Thanks in advance.

Try calling up mazford kung meron sila. But if the casa is not that far, you can just purchase in their sales dept.

    Engine Oil Level Woes

Hey guys, I need some help. A few months ago I had my Ranger 2.2 XLT serviced in Ford Libis. Everything was peachy except for the engine oil. For some reason, every time I checked the oil level it showed that the oil was only up to half of the hashmarks of the dipstick only. My experience with older cars suggest that engine oil should always be up to the top end of the hashmarks because that's the way the dip stick was designed. To remove ambiguity most carmakers calibrate the dipstick that way. When I went to Ford Global to ask them about the engine oil level, they told me that it was indeed low. They said it has to reach up to the top end of the hask marks of the dip stick.

Ford Libis has a different opinion. They're saying that it has to be at the bottom end of the hashmarks because oil expands through heat. I'm getting mixed signals from two dealers and even the owner's manual. Can anyone help?

For libis don't know what they are talking about. Top mark means maximum, low mark means minimum. So the oil level should never be more than the top mark nor should it be less than the low mark.

Some (not all) engine oil dip sticks have 2 sets of marks, each on opposite sides of the dip stick end. One is labeled "COLD" or "C" and the other is labeled "HOT" or "H". You use the cold marks when the engine is cold and the hot marks when then engine is hot.

normal lang yang sa iyo na in between high and low.

Thanks! That's what I read in the manual too however, it is my understanding that it's best to have the engine oil level as close to the max as possible just in case something happens while on the road and there's a leak. Also engine oil expansion isn't too worrisome for cars that are as new as ours.

Nearer top mark when it's cold. Nearer bottom mark when it's warmed up and has been running for a while.

The issue is that the oil circulates through the system and takes a long time to get back down to the oil pan.

If it's "full" in the morning, before you start the car, then there's no problem. Even if it's halfway between the marks, as long as the level in the morning doesn't change over time, there's still no problem.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Does the ford ranger 2.2 engine have any connection with the BD2200 of the old mazda pickup?

Nope. The Ranger's engine is a 2.2 Duratorq that Ford developed in-house. The old B2200 had a Mazda F2 engine.

The Ranger's engine is pretty new, but it's shared with the European Ford Transit van.

I was seriously considering this, but with the introduction of the Ecosport...I changed my mind completely. What with the Ecosport's great wading power (think about the Metro's and provinces' baha), SUV-like stance and clearance (all the potholes and uneven roads), urban maneuverability (city parking and traffic, heck even in provinces), and that price (less than a million)! Ranger vs Ecosport--clearly, the latter is a vehicle to have and enjoy with your family and friends for many years. Indeed a best buy!

It depends on what you're looking for bro.

For me, the Ecosport looks nowhere as good as a Ranger.

It also does not have the same tough underchassis as the Ranger. That Fiesta-based suspension will wear out much quicker on poor roads than the Ranger's truck wishbones and leaf springs.

The Ecosport also does not have the same power and torque that the Ranger has. I doubt the 1.5 Fiesta engine can outgrunt the 2.2L turbodiesel of the Ranger.

True, the Ecosport is easier to drive and is cheaper to buy, but it's not a runaway winner compared to the Ranger.

It's apple and oranges. Although I agree with you, My aunt already reserved an Eco-Sport which I was surprised for it's price under 800k? with 19-20kmpl it's a great deal. However I personally don't mind about it because it has low hp and torque.
