Been using my XLT Auto for 2 years loading it up to 80% of payload capacity, I usually travel south up to Bicol with that load. I tried to drive it hard even before it reached 1,000 kms using the 3 modes of the tranny (auto-sport-manual to use engine brake then back to auto only to shift back to sport mode for WOT overtaking) most of the time i drive it this way para malaman kung may lalabas na problem as early as possible. I also tested the suspension by intentionally driving fast on the rough roads going to Bicol mas masarap kasi ride kaysa mabagal na takbo sa mga lubak and braking hard on road gaps (due to never ending road repairs) to test the ABS but so far so good After 30K+ kms it still drives like new...this is the first time natuwa ako sa salitang WALANG PAGBABAGO

The trouble is I cannot take off at the back of my mind that there is this turbo issue and might also happen on my rig. But at the moment, im enjoying my xlt! And yeah, I like driving it hard!

I just drive mine hard whenever I can so that any turbo issues can come out before the 3-year warranty expires.

ang hassle lang naman dun sir kapag let's say may out of town kayo or emergency/important na lakad tapos bigla magloko yun ranger.

kung wala na warranty nasa magkano kaya aabutin para ipaayus yun turbo to intercooler ng ranger?

I would not be shock at the minimum P100K ang turbo... Kasi sa Focus TDCi nasa ganun price level e pero mas malaki pa turbo ng Ranger...

I noticed na kapag binebeybi ang driving overtime nagiging makupad na unlike kapag birit to the max laging alert at always ready for action. There's no time for carbon to build up kasi lagi syang nakakabuga. Drive it like a slave but maintain it like a hot babe...masira man at least na-enjoy mo Vrrrrmmmm

Sa mazda bt50 3.2 (same engine as t6 3.2) yung cost na pinakita sa akin ng mazda q.ave was 85k, walang mark-up, dealer mark-up and taxes. Pag may mark-up na daw aabot ng 140k-150k with VAT but not including labor charges. New turbo yan ha not overhauling kit.

Lamang lang ako sa inyo kasi ang Mazda Philippines pag dala ko ng unit ko na naka CEL diagnosed agad then without even filing a warranty claim they replaced the turbo, absolutely no hassles aftersales service. Unlike Ford Philippines inaabot pa ng demandahan para mag-claim ng waranty (see ford fix or repair daily thread.)

mahal pala edi mag aftermarket turbo kit nalang (pag wala na warranty) kaya baka dun maresolved yun problem kasi masmatibay naman siguro yun compare sa stock?

Ang tagal tagal nang ginagamit ng 2.2 Puma na yan ng Ford sa Transit, and even sa Defender.

I doubt there's something inherently wrong with the turbo. More likely something wrong with the manufacturing bits for the Ranger variant of the Puma engine in particular.

And again, why are we obsessing over the same few cases over and over again? I checked Makati Ford's records on Ranger turbo problems, and out of the 6 that they had, 4 were just electrical with no malfunction on the turbo per se, but the warning light still came on.

To those who experienced the turbo problem, may symptoms ba like unusual high pitch sound during idle? yung friend ko kasi has been experiencing this. Parang pinging sound while at idle. I tried to inspect and its on the side where the turbo is located. May power surge din daw which he didnt experience before. But no CEL naman. Tried to plug in my obd pero wala naman noted prob except that I think unusual yung sound. Parang bearing that lacks lube. 26tkms on odo.

None for me. My Powertrain Warning light comes on but only at high speed and with no difference in performance. Pag low speed absolutely no problem.

Try checking the seals of the turbo hose since this is where the problem starts usually.

This happened to me 3 times at 3K km mileage had a hard time determining the cause kasi hindi nag CEL but finally corrected it by tightening air cleaner hose clamp and securing MAF sensor harness socket. PWL never turned on since then parang malayo ang cause kasi dapat sa powertrain ang problem pero sa air intake pala.

Powetrain Warning Light is the CEL equivalent of the Ranger. Makes sense that an air intake problem can cause it. The engine sensed something unusual with the air coming in and reported it through the warning light.

Baka naman safety feature ng ranger to.
Sacrifice the turbo instead of the engine.

Now monitoring engine parameters. EGR and throttle plate goes hand in hand. When there is egr movement and so is the throttle plate. EGR is almost always open the whole time even to speeds up to 130kph. Depending on load/rpm/acceleration it will vary. I am seeing from 50%-80% open. It always stays 80% open while the throttle plate is varying from 72.2% to 93.7% open. It also most of the time stays 93.7% open.
