Maybe some features that aren't present with other competitors? Like the air intake box, height, bed capacity, features like cruise control etc? Interior space and seats are much better as well at least for me.

Yup. Sa dmax jx1 ko noon matic din. Lakas n arangkada. Hehe. Mahina talaga t6 sa arankada due to smal engine and turbo lag

Hi, nakapila ako sa Ford Commonwealth for a WT 2.2 A/T. They're asking for 80k D.I. tapos required din ang in-house insurance. Does this sound right? Sino dito kumuha ng unit sa Commonwealth? I appreciate your help! Thanks!

For the 2.2 it does not sound right.

Hahaha sarcasm aside, there's no denying the Ranger's supremacy against other pickups once the bigger picture is considered. I knew very well that a Strada or Navara would've been a better choice if speed was the concern, but despite the so-so performance, the Ranger's looks and features are just unbeatable for its class.

Besides, mid-range power is great naman. On the way home I had no trouble keeping up with my friend's 2.5L Rav 4 along EDSA.

    As for FC:

    9.34 km/L
    Mixed (30% city, 70% highway)
    Odo is at 381 km.

Medyo malakas pero break-in period pa naman and sobrang hindi economical yung driving ko sa highway so I guess it's not that bad.

Interestingly, the trip computer's pretty accurate. 10.3 L/100 km or 9.7 km/L yung display, so 4% variance lang.

Case to case basis ata sa value because for me Ranger has better value than Colorado. Colorado is much expensive here than Ranger then very basic feature lang entry level ng Colorado.

Check out where Ranger has been in this video. This is what Ranger can do.

The amount of horsepower you need to get a few more kph exponentially increases depending on the aerodynamics of the car. For a bugatti veyron for example the exponent could be 1.5-2 because of its low profile but for a truck it could be twice or thrice that number. Personally, I'm thankful that it is "limited" to 175-180. If it goes any faster I'm pretty sure idiots will end up wrecking the truck. At higher speeds the truck will lose control with even just a little twitch.

BMW's, Jags are in fact most of the time limited electronically (not just through aerodynamics) because if you allow it to go any faster, bits and pieces would come off the body of the car.
Somebody uploaded video of their top speed at 182kph. Sports car na kunin nyo if u want anything faster. Wag Sana mapikon. Peace

Immature moment but the driver's name is Hardy de Kock. Mean parents hahaha

BTT: Try Ford Global. Only inquired about the XLT MT but unlike the three other dealers I consulted, sa kanila no DI, and hindi inhouse insurance.

And if it has good low to midrange power, that's more than good enough for us. Mostly QC/Manila lang naman kami so top speed isn't a priority. Fuel efficiency, bigger bed space and pogi look, yes!

Mga sir hingi ako ng advice. Should I go for 18" or 20" black rhino Sidewinder? Also, what tire size po ba mairerecommend nyo? TIA

I agree with you Sir, I can also hear the wind blowing towards the vehicle and it gets noticeably louder when cruising along NLEX with speeds between 120-140kmh. Maybe that's one reason why it affects the vehicle reaching a certain speed due to wind resistance, another factor din sa aerodynamics was the cargo bed as well. Definitely hinde masyado nag-focus ang R&D division ng Ford interms of aerodynamics with the new Ranger because it's a pick-up truck not a race car.

For me interms of value and looks, winner talaga ang Ranger. Though I wouldn't be too concerned now with it's title, kse the award was given to the Ranger last year pa, "2012 International Pick Up of the Year". Not sure though if they've already crowned a new winner this year, pero based from available articles online, the new DMax has been bagging awards just when the year started.

Mag-iimprove pa yung FC nyo Sir. Ganyan din roughly FC nung XLT MT namen nung break-in period. Got it also from Ford Global. Went to Baguio with just 3++kms on the odo, and the best reading I got for highways was 7.4L/100km. City driving was between 9.2-9.6L/100km. Just last week when we went to Pampanga, best reading was 6.3L/100km on highways, and city driving was between 7.6-9.0L/100km. Nagbago ako ng driving style compared to when we first got it, then I kinda experimented with the diesel fuels we're using. So far mas fuel efficient kapag pure Unioil Euro4 diesel ang laman ng fuel tank. Tried mixing it with big 3's diesel fuels and may increase in FC na 1.5L-2.8L/100km sa reading compared sa pure Unioil. Matagtag talaga siya for a pick-up and tire pressure somewhat contributes to that. So nagbawas ako ng tire pressure, pero nung binaba ko from 38psi to 33psi or 35psi yung tire pressure, hirap siya reaching 130kmh-140kmh. Nung nagreach na ng 120kmh, feel ko na parang nanginginig na yung dashboard and it took time for it to pick-up speed. Still using the stock wheels, so tiniis ko na lang yung tagtag and retained 38psi tire pressure para hinde sacrificed yung engine also pati yung FC.
Not that na may kinakarera ako na kapwa motorists ko pero it picks up speed really fast when I want it to. I once tried catching up with a Fortuner who'se been driving above the speed limit, 2.5 engine ata nun na AT, had a hard time catching up until the turbo starts to kick in, then naabutan ko na. Though it didn't really bother me, basta fuel efficient and with a big cargo bed, ok na samen. Fuel prices are starting to soar again this past few weeks kaya malaking bagay na din na fuel efficient ang ranger for us.
