So far mukang sa ASEAN region wala... Yung mga diesels mukang Euro models lang at the moment...
Pero if ever lalabas yep pricing becomes a problem. Let's take the Ford Focus. Quite high price wise compared to gasoline rivals right? And that is already assumed that its locally made so tax incentives galore pa yun... Kung CBU yun eh di ang mahal na sobra. Assuming Ford decides to make the Fiesta in Thailand and decides later to make a diesel engine for the ASEAN region available, patay tayo sa pricing nyan. P1M for a subcompact car anyone? Or kung gusto mo nasa P800K region, walang airbags, steel rims, walang ABS/EBD, walang pretensioners, walang ESP, manual lang, black side mirrors and black door handles. Basically parang Hyundai Accent in terms of BARENESS.

There is only one kind of Powershift for the current Fiesta 1.6, this has no manual shift function. "PRNDL" sadly, what you see is what you get not until Ford decides to upgrade it in the future.
There is a diesel Fiesta test unit in Thailand...

The Thai made diesel Fiesta will also be introduced in Australia and New Zealand soon.
For now it looks like there are no plans to offer the diesel Fiesta here.

If they were to sell it here, i'm guessing the MT 1.6 diesel would probably cost about P70K-P80K more than the equivalent trim petrol/gasoline 1.6 Powershift models.Last edited by AG4; September 20th, 2010 at 12:47 AM.

yup, I'm guessing a TDCi version will be a good 1.5m more expensive, all else being equal.
*Tidus, I was thinking of the same thing last night... My current A/T is 4-speed, and has D, L2, L, and O/D OFF. So you can limit it to any of the 4 gears you want. Paano na yung 6-speed PowerShift? If it has L only, you can limit it to 1st gear only? I did not notice if meron siya O/D off button? Anyone notice?

I got this from Edmund's Blog
Although this dual-clutch setup doesn't offer manual gearchanges (no paddles nor a separate shift lever gate to be seen), there is an "L" mode. Pop it in L and the powertrain transforms from mileage miser to party animal. Rather than top fuel mileage you'll get top enjoyment on backroads, as I did during a spirited early afternoon run through the canyons. By staying in the lower gears longer and thus keeping the revs up (indeed they typically ranged between 4000 rpm and redline), L mode makes for much quicker throttle response as the engine is always in the sweet spot of its powerband. In other words, if you employ "L" the agile Fiesta feels eager rather than reluctant to accelerate with verve.
Of course choosing the Fiesta's feisty transmission mode is going to cost you, as fuel mileage is going to drop and the normally quiet cabin is going to be filled with the sound of the singing engine. Yes, a manual shift feature would be nice, but this is an economy car after all and I'm glad Ford at least offers this mode for the tranny. I would just think of "L" as a Sport mode to be used on those rare occassions when conditions allow you to have some fun with the Fiesta.

Wala syang O/D off button. Yung button on the side where typically O/D buttons are located is actually the hill assist. Remember the 6 speed PS is not an automatic and does not have a torque converter so pag hill assist is off mahuhulog yung car mo just like a manual. Nilagay yan so people can feel the drive of an automatic even though its not an automatic...

*jetrone, so puwede ilagay sa L for steep climbs and decents? Yan lang naman ang gamit sa akin nung L2/L1, during these conditions (more for safety/engine braking). Kennon Road, Talisay, and ShangriLa Edsa mall parking are good applications.
*tidus, is the hill assist on by default? Or do you need to activate it pa? Puwede kaya always on yun?
It's the PS transmission I haven't really done my due diligence on. Puro comfort/convenience features and internal space ang naging concentration ko during the visit at the showroom.
