We still prefer the perculator/coffee maker at home. My wife occasionally buys a Starbucks six-pack from the supermarket. But, hanging out at Starbucks? nah.
We do have a local knockoff called "Javalina's". It looks like Starbucks, even in the colors of the logo. But, it also has free wireless internet and is quite comfy inside. Around 3:30 pm, a whole gaggle of HS and college kids (with laptops) converge there and stay until closing at 9 pm. It's near a Thai restaurant. So once in a while, we'd drop in while waiting for the Thai restaurant to open.
What do you know. They have a website.......

I go to Starbucks not because it's sosi to go there. It's a coffee shop! What's the big deal?

I like starbucks for the following:
1. great coffee, i don't know if its locally-sourced (i think someone mentioned it to me), but I still like it better than homebrewed (choc full o nuts, etc), seattles best, etc..
2. ambience, ok makipag kwentuhan sa mga friends and family, lalo na pag di gutom or nagpapatunaw ng pagkain. I especially like this during xmas holidays.. hopefully they don't lose this.
3. I'd like beer better but my gf and family don't drink so this is the next best thing..
Since mejo expensive nga, minsan lang pumunta. pag may extrang pera pang splurge. If people perceive this as 'pa-sosi', oks lang.. live and let live.

February 26th, 2007 12:40 PM #28Uy! What brand did you get? Also, did you get the steam type or the water pressure type?
Anyway, I also prefer to make my own coffee. StarBucks is good...provided you're lucky enough to encounter a barista who knows how to properly pull espresso. Kadalasan, masama yung pagka-tamp ng espresso grinds, which in turn results into unevenly extracted coffee (some parts will be over extracted, some under extracted). This in turn produces that burnt bitter taste which leaves a lingering panis-na-laway aftertaste in your mouth.
Unless you order pure unadulterated, untampered espresso, you probably won't notice that taste since it will be masked by all that milk, caramel syrup, choco syrup, sugar, and whipped cream. :D
I still visit StarBucks (and similar shops..figaro, sanfo coffee, etc) though if I need an non-drip brewed coffee fix.

When was the last time you changed them? If it's been a while, I suggest following your mechanic's...
