here in the US, you have to give around 10 to 15% tip depending on where you live. If you live in NYC. You "have" to give at least 15% or else the attendants would bug you that it's not 15%... lol
yeah, required talaga sa states ang 15% tip. kaya nga ang taas magbigay ng tip ng americans when they eat out here, kala nila ganun din ang sistema.hehehe

hehe...that's true. i am used to tipping at least 20% and that's how much i tipped when i visited the philippines and took friends and family out to dinner.
they said i was crazy but i said "ok na yun, galing naman ng service...plus, these guys work their butts off for very little money, so i'm glad to give them something extra"

wow, i hope all the guests are as generous as you are!
sa Japan part of their culture to to give the best service possible and they don't expect you to give them tips. ang sabi sa akin nun kasamahan kong hapon parang dishonor sa mga hapon na bigyan mo sila ng tip. di ko naman na subukan magbigay ng tip kasi sobra mahal ng pagkain dun e.
sino ba nag-imbento nitong tips? is there a law to it? kung hinahati pala 'yan why then limit it to restaurants?
establishments like malls, department stores, janitorial services, security personnel, etc; it employ staffs doing similar chores like those in restaurants; sa SM nga mahirap din tumayo sa pwesto buong araw jingle & tsibug lang pahinga..

X2. I have a partime job as a waiter in a nice restaurant. I get mad when I only get 15% its the minimum. That means you didnt do a good job. I normally get 20% and 30% if they really like you. Being a waiter here is part bringinging the customers, and for the most part charming and entertaining customers.
I like to dress well, most of the time dress better than the customers. this way they won't look down on you. You can easily make $150 in one night, working from 6pm to 12:30am. Its just hard work! I always tip well because I know how hard It is to be a waiter.
But i gotta do what i gotta do to make money to fund the car addiction while in college.
