    Hello Gearheads!

I just want to gather some suggestion from some of you,..ok, so..a special friend will be celebrating her birthday next week and I'm planning what good food to give as a gift? last time a gave her a cake...but this year, I want something different, (pakiramdam ko kasi masyado nang common ang cake sa birthdayhan) can I have some suggestions from yours? Some suggestions I got is to gift a donut this time (but still don't know what brand to get..J.Co or Krispy Kreme? since I'm not a foodie and don't have interest eating donuts at all) or just a personal/home-made specialty (Biko, Maja Blanca?)

Cake, maybe from a home baker so it's a little more special.

    Chocolates always work.

That's a great suggestion ms.Cathy, chocolates...hmm..siguro nga adding chocolates naman this time (pang-complementary dun sa pinaka-ireregalo ko)...but what brand? saka still need yung pinakapang-front.I'll take note of that.

What's your budget? For chocolates I wouldn't go for the commercial brands sold in supermarkets. Probably Royce or Patchi? Truffettes de France is my favorite. They have a stall in Glorietta but it's cheaper if you buy a box at S&R. I'm not sure if it's available now. I can check for you at the Fort if you want.

Hindi ah, its far more cheaper than you think.

Special friend di ba? So I think it would be worth the effort on your part.

Vargas stall at Rustan's Rockwell has good frozen brazo din. They sell something that's similar to a silvana, brazo bomb ata.

Since the TS is also from the south, how about Mango bravo from Conti's? Less expensive and di mo na kailangan lumayo.

it'd be nice if you could think of some favorite food your friend hasn't eaten in a long time , it doesn't need to be fancy per se. A lot of my old college friends were very happy when i gave them some brownies na galing sa bakeshop near our old school(tinigil ko na, sobrang mahal :p). an officemate of mine who came here from Cebu was very appreciative of the danggit i brought him earlier this year.

Kung wala kang maisip...i think you can't go wrong with kakanin :D
