I went there a couple of months ago. Their sign is still there but if you go in, it's closed. My Binondo-based friends told me they closed. I hope they do re-open. I really liked their food before.

    .
Tunay Beef is very much open, It underwent some renovations though. I work just across them. Wai Ying has two shops in Benavidex, near Salazar and another in front of Hope Christian. Ying ying is at the corner of Nueva and Dasmarinas. Wai Ying, Ying Ying and President are operated by the same owner. New Manosa is along Onpin near corner Alonso also still open. And Tasty used to have a shop in Nueva, then moved to Ongpin beside Binondo Church. It is now located at along Condesa Street.

Masuki was originally Ma Kong, the first restaurant of the Ma family on Benavidez street. Ma Mon Luk is a different restaurant but offered a very similar product. Local Chinese legend has it that the guy who owned both gave Ma Kong to the original wife and Ma Mon Luk to the mistress. They have branches now at MOA and Megamall.
    Buhay pa ang Ang Tunay.

I got robbed once and almost mugged on another occasion. Regardless of it all, the place has a soft spot in my heart and this thread kinda made me want to walk down memory lane one of these days... and maybe grab some real Chinese grocery items while I'm at it.

The last time I was there was at least a decade ago and I wasn't even on Ongpin. I was looking for electronics stuff along Raon.

    Sorry for the OT.
lao fu zi?! old master Q?! sobrang kulit niyan bro! lalo na yung pandak na mataba pati yung matangkad na payat na kasama ni lao fu zi. i miss that comic! so fun to read and re-read. never fails to make me laugh and put a silly smile on my ugly face. i remember my mom warning me to start the comic from right to left for this is how chinese people read.
as a kid i tend to forget things so when i read it , it just got me perplexed!

also a decade ago you would often catch the late "palito" in ronquillo street. he plays the drums in a casino nearby.

i seldom get to eat there na. Usually dumadaan na lang ng Shin Ton Yon, Wai Ying for their asado, siopao, sausage, pork floss

Daan din kayo Bee Tin grocery for some Chinese delicacies: kiamoy, dikiam, sungsung peanuts, that sort of stuff

If you guys can hang out in Chinatown til 8-8:30, nagsesale yung Maxim's Tea House dun.

Not that the place needs more advertising, but your friend may like Eng Bee Tin...although some Tsinoys still prefer the old school Ho-Land hopia along Nueva.
