June 5th, 2003 04:03 PM #19"The anthropologist has said, tell me what, when, where, and with whom you
eat, and I will
give you a picture of your world. Based on your meals... what is your world
like? For me,
all meals are important and certain meals are events. During a meal, I can
exit from a world
of care and stress and enter into the lives and laughter and tears of those
with whom I eat.
As we eat together, we can be 'with' each other in a way that relaxes,
welcomes, breaks down
barriers, and strengthens ties. As you can, begin to make at least some of
your meals oases
of wonder, respect, listening, joyfulness...and you will have made the
world, your world, a
less frightening and more livable place."
