and what happens is pag malaki ang population di maka intindi ng english you gotta communicate with them in the language they can understand

so ung content ng channels mo puro tagalog

ung medium of instruction mo tagalog

    lahat tagalog

    it's a negative feedback loop

    lalo di matututo mag english

What bothers me is that despite more Filipinos now earning better (i.e. rising middle class), inuuna pa yung pagbili ng SUV na di naman kailangan kaysa maginvest sa education ng mga anak nila.

I'm curious to understand why other people aren't as keen in investing on their children's education with utmost priority.

Interestingly, the businessmen I know who have the biggest safety nets for their children because pwede ipamana ang negosyo are also the ones who still ensure their children go to good schools.

coz keeping up with the joneses now is more important than investing for the future (para sa sarili at para sa anak)

short-term thinking (short-termism) is a common characteristic of not-very-successful people

they believe kaya ng tao mag succeed on diskarte and street-smarts alone

they view school as unnecessary... waste of time and money... kung pwede lang skip the whole educational process

so they send their kids to whatever school... kahit anong school... just to get it overwith... para masabi nakatapos ang anak

coz probably they themselves never really did well in school but relied on diskarte at naka bili naman ng SUV so....

Interestingly, the businessmen I know who have the biggest safety nets for their children because pwede ipamana ang negosyo are also the ones who still ensure their children go to good schools.
    yep

why is it that the rich and highly successful are the ones who see how competitive the world really is

and they're the ones who value academics eventhough many of them are madiskarte too (book-smart intelligent + street-smart madiskarte can beat those who are only madiskarte)

they send their kids to the best pre-schools just to them an edge before they start real school

then real school tapos may tutor pa after school

tapos school break may enrichment program pa or ipadala sa abroad for immersion in foreign language

    long-term thinking sila eh

they want their kids to be able to thrive anywhere... not only in PH

dito sa PH kasi the end goal is kumita ng pera

so kung nag artista as a teen at kumikita na di na kailangan mag aral

wala sa kultura natin ung chasing knowledge for knowledge sake

    pera para lang

Lahat naman gusto mag vlogger kasi malaki kita. Hundreds of thousands pala kita nila. Kahit hindi artista, basta millions ang subcount, they can earn millions a month.

you got a culture that sees education as a necessary evil

    haha

sagabal talaga ung pag aaral sa buhay no?

no wonder dead last ang pinas sa PISA reading comprehension

Education is not a priority because they became themselves w/o going to an exceptional school. Interestingly, the public school system, with the K-12 curriculum now, is “almost” as competitive as the big private ones (because of facilities) but are even better than those small private schools that are just “businesses” for the owners. I know of some who take pride in saying their kids study in a private school (who’s main concern is retaining the kids)

Kaya mag ready kayo sa gyera, civil war . Yun Beirut Lebanon na dini dismiss lang naten na terrorist state of the 70s was once like us

They were progressive , embracing luxury goods and items of the times, pero nabubuhay pala sa utang. Andami mercedez Benz na nasira sa gyerang yun , kasi they were one of the first states to use benz as taxis as well as common folk cars noon araw

The people who tasted those luxury goods and items na walang pinag aaralan ang unang umalma and destroyed their country.

Cuba had the same history too. Ganyan ang gawain ng Amerika sa mga bansa na susumusunod sa ideology nya but the problem is the kind of people of the respective country.

now, the philippines has easy access to everything. Tiger sugar nga di na pila ngaunm kasi sawa kagad tayo Take these lucxuries away and see what happens.

Ngaun pa lang kahit we’re enjoying these, grabe na ang angst sa social media comments.

Basta ako im on the process of selecting my comrades sa gyera, Kuya big is one of them. If we implode, gusto ko mga henchman ko fit and matatalino

Coz, we are gonna take. Thats how to survive. nanood na din ako ng Mad Max, Walking Dead, Independence Day, Red Dawn ganun

    YOLO!

People only see the outliers. For every Vice Ganda and Mimiyuh, ilang aspiring artista and vlogger ang walang views at walang raket.

For every shadow and uls na successful businessmen, ilang negosyante ang bankrupt at baon sa utang.

The average university-educated pinoy working a regular job is usually better off than the average vlogger. But averages aren't interesting, everyone feels they're an outlier.

While the true outliers recognize that success may not come as easy for future generations so they try to build as many safety nets - education, business continuity, trust funds, values, connections - so that their next of kin have an even better shot at success.
