Guys, have you ever asked a person to be your friend? How about your best friend? How are you sure that he treats you like one?

i am sure of my best friend because we have gone through difficult times, and we both hanged on together, walang iwanan.

have i asked somebody to be my friend? sa friendster nagpapa add ako minsan pero i dont ask them to be my friend, add nila ako kasi cute sila o pretty sila=)

i equate "friend" with certain levels
1. acquaintance / common friend / initial introduction through a friend - this is mere hi and hello, how do you do, kind of thing, this may be of business affair or you are introduced during a gathering. you can also equate this with neighbor, schoolmate or officemates which you dont talk with but you know you are neighbors, so when you casually bump into each other you nod or smile or say hi.

2. friends only - you go to parties, you gimik together

3. close friends/ best friend- you bond together, you share some secrets

4. true friend - if there true love, there a true friend as well, this is somebody you can share everything with, someone who wont let you go, help you in all sufferings, laugh at good times, in short you can count on this person in both good and bad times, as this person knows you inside and out. usually you have only 1 or 2 of these true friend.

pero seriously you dont ask someone to be your friend. it just happens na bigla na lang kayo lagi magkasama whether gimik or whatever bringsboth of you together. lalo na kung pareho hilig nyo

Wow, shouldnt' this be something you learned in kindergarten?

Life skills will teach you the simple signs that let you know when someone considers you a friend, or merely an acquaintance. Friendships are built, and not just given titles.

As a tip, when someone has let you in their comfort zone, has added you as one of the people they call to hang out with, or confides in you, you can be almost sure that person considers you a friend.

I agree that there's no need to ask someone to be your friend except maybe when innocently asking as a young kid. You'll know if you have a true friend if that person just "clicks" with you.

I keep my circle of friends small. But they're those I've known since childhood here. Even when we moved to the Philippines, I kept in touch with them. After I got back, same. We all have families now. But,we still keep in touch.

I have a couple of friends in the Philippines that I can consider true friends. One is my best friend in HS who I've kept in touch with up to now. The other, I lost track of and who I'm now trying to find.
