about the size of the stone: let us blame consumerism/commercialism for that, ngayon its all about how big it is. parang gusto ko ngang simpleng band of white gold lang like my parent's pero baka pagtawanan lang sya ng mga kaibigan nya. kaya ngayon todo ipon muna ako. at inuuna ko muna mga luho ko para no regrets na pag kasal hehehe

since women are expecting big rocks for engagement rings, pwede din kaya tayo mag demand? I wouldn't mind getting a nice watch as an engagement present

go for the bigger one dude.. you cant go wrong there. kahit imperceptible to our male eyes, girls can instantly see the difference in size

    Wow... old thread!

Personally, I could never understand the need to price polished rocks so high... or why you'd have to spend so much on a simple solitaire setting, just like the solitaires everyone else has...

After seeing one girl's half-carat ring, I figured getting a solitaire within my budget might give me or my wife an inferiority complex (well, me... she doesn't sweat petty stuff like that... )... so....

I bought her a butterfly shaped ring... six small diamonds in the shape of a butterfly... not yellowish or flawed, but not VSS (very super superior? whatever) quality either. Basta, pinili ko yung unique at maganda. Two years on, she still wears it. It's not expensive looking enough to be snatcher bait, but it's very pretty.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

curious question (stupid if you may):

Yung engagement ring ba, yun din gagamitin sa wedding as the wedding ring?

Congrats, man! Lumang-luma na nga yung thread na to. Ngayon ko lang naalala na nag-post din pala ako ng questions here.

Ngayon, more than 1 year na kami ng wifey ko. :D

Enjoy married life, pare. And be faithful to her no matter what. ;)

    horsepower,

nope. it will be different from the wedding rings. usually wedding rings e band lang. la nang bato.

some women would wear their wed ring everyday but would wear engagement rings on special occassions. because engagement rings are more bling bling ! hehe

i googled diamonds and ngayon ko lang nalaman na may synthetic diamonds pala. napo-produce na pala ito sa factories. a rough diamond can grow in just 3 and a half days!

pag bumibili ba ng gems, may certificate bang kasama kung natural o synthetic ito?

*DieseLNUBI: Thanks sir and Congrats :D

*Laser_Ramon: matagal na po sir meron synthetic diamonds, masyado silang perfect, though they are practically same with natural diamonds, they actually have a higher quality or better characteristics.

because of this, bumagsak ang value ng diamonds.

Gold na lang di pa nad-discover paano i-produce. If and when that happens, i think, the world economy would collapse.

Hmmm. I didn't know that. My wife and I have matching wedding rings (courtesy of my mother-in-law) and they're both studded with diamonds. I don't wear my wedding ring much because my wife fears I might lose it like the one time I had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and I thought I dropped my wedding ring on the ground (in fact, it was by the kitchen sink where I left it to wash dishes earlier).
