    Naisip ko lang bigla...

For the old car with sentimental value/project car or gusto lang mag assemble ng jeep (owner/wrangler)

Saan nakakabili locally ng brand new na engine?

Sa casa pero mas mahal pa than the value of your car. If i remember correctly, the casa once quoted 350k for a 1.3 vios engine.

Getting japan surplus of the same engine costs 20k.

Get the most powerful surplus engine your money can buy and fit it in an old car of yours.

Sorry for being that ignorant pero yung surplus engine ng vios is 20k lang? I was expecting that surplus engine prices start at 50k upwards.

^hmmm... 2NZ-FE was first used in Japan in 1999

So madami dami na dapat naka-scrap na yan ang engine sa Japan.

    hehehe...

naisip ko lang naman bigla habang nakatitig sa kawalan.

may friend kasi akong pinapaayos yung small body nya ngayon, may sentimental value daw kasi.

so sa case nya, reliability and efficiency ang ganda sana ng bagong engine+tranny

as for "power," 30 year old tech brakes/chasis tapos for sure wala na sa tamang balance yung kotse (mas mabigat na sa isang side)... dapat magisip-isip na kapag nasa highway

Yup yung engine lang yan. Wala tranny. Atleast that was when a friend started looking for 1 sa banawe and evangelista. Price ranged 20-28k. Madami na kasi talaga 2nz engines kaya ganyan kamura.

Last time I bought a japan surplus engine, nasa 35K. I think iba ung tuning nung japan-spec engine compared sa thai-spec engine. For me, it was way more responsive.

Yup... Same observation we had during our FX days.

Original FX had a Taiwan made 2C engine.

When we replaced it with a Japan surplus, ramdam na ramdam na mas galit yung Japanese engine.
