in an AT, would it cause any harm on the engine if you aggressively step on your gas to accelerate in a flash with your RMP reaching 5k-6k?

No problem will arise from redlining your car since most new cars have a rev limiter to cut-off the fun should you go overboard on the RPMs.

On older cars, redlining and sudden downshifting (or anything that can give a sudden surge of power to the engine componenets) can damage some components like the A/C compressor or the water pump (worn out/deteriorated because of age/mileage). That's why it a good practice to sometimes turn off the AC switch when you plan to do some hard driving.

Of course, make sure you do this in the proper road conditions and situations as well.

yup! that's what i'm doing... i switch off the A/C before speeding para full force... kala ko wala lang yun... nakakatulong din pala...

well said well said.. hehe nga pla wlang kaso un kung matic ka then ul floor the acceleratos pedal.. ganun nman tlga ang gingawa if you need to downshift & kailangan mo ng speed :D & like what vinj said meron yang revlimiter so mag cutt-off yan pag na reach mo ung certain RPM na yun.. turning off your A/C can lower the load of the engne so..mas malakas ang pull hehe mainit nga lang sa loob ng auto..pero pwede ka rin nman mag drive ng hard kahit may A/C eh kaso baka makasira din pag sobrang tagal ng pag maneho mo ng HARD hehehe :D

"Italian tune-up" ika nga. I do this with my pick-up occasionally, it does let out all the carbon/black sooth that builds up in the exhaust.

If you noticed also, after some semi-hard, highway driving/long drive... gumagaan din yung takbo ng car.

ok lng ba khit halos redline?... kc ung altis namin napapaabot ko ng mga 6.25k rpm which is almost the redline already at 6.3k... tpos meron png button pla na ECT... sabi ng iba pag depress daw to pwede sumagad sa redline pero d ko pa try eh... takot ako baka masira ung car... ok lng din ba na sagad na sa redline kung sakaling idepress ko ung ECT? salamat po...

in my corolla, I go beyond the 6300 redline on the tach... the cutoff is around 6500. No problems yet. I do manual shifting thru the A/T.

not that "delikado" as long as you don't do drop-clutch to get more acceleration from your engine. BTW, you can't accelerate from 10 to 90 kph in slipt-seconds... it will still take a few seconds around 5 to 10 seconds depending on your car.

yup, but within that split seconds, yung RPM mo is 5.5k to 6.5k... parang ang sakit para sa kotse (altho 'tis fun for the driver)... :wink:

IMHO wag lng sobrahan ang paghataw..anything thats sobra is bad...meron me kakilala kakahataw ng oto nya eh..nadali ung Automatic transmission ng auto nya..kc laging redline....
