Top Overhaul or Full Overhaul

question lang. sa utol ko ito (hindi ito sa akin....)
car is Mazda Familia 96 GLXi.

the car kasi excessively emits black smoke. Tapos parang wala na syang power in acceleration. In fact, parang namamatay yung engine at 2nd gear pag umaahon sa humps.

i am not knowledgable in engines (suspension is my forte...hehehe).
ano ba kailangan dito? top overhaul lang o total overhaul? i've texted Manny (of Cruven) yesterday to inquire about top overhaul. Nasa 5k lang ang expense and one day to complete. Pag total overhaul ba magkano? Tsaka gano kahabang babanatan?

would it be worth it yung total overhaul? or an engine swap will be more cost effective?

antay natin comment ni speedyfix. as much as possible, gusto ni utol eh yung best bang for the back, be it a dukot, a complete overhaul or engine swap. ibebenta na din nya ata kasi yung oto next year, and knowing yung resale ng mazda, hindi na nya mababawi yung ginastos nya.

Basing on experience bro, mas maigi na total overhaul na nga lang bro. Approximate turn around time nito is around a week to two weeks dahil may mga machining involved. Costs range around P15k (the cheapest) to P25k bro.

She might not need to overhaul. Black smoke can be caused by clogged filters or over delivery of fuel. Excessive and constant white smoke is where an overhaul is in order.

Talking from personal experience sa top overhaul:

Pina-dukot ko yung makina ng corolla ko which showed almost the exact same symptoms. Afterwards nawala yung problema for 3 months tapos unti-unti bumabalik yung symptoms ulit.

Suggestion ko is kung ibebenta na yung car ng utol mo pa-dukot mo na lang kasi di mo talaga mababawi yung gastos ng overhaul sa mazda, but if gagamitin pa siya for more than 6 months, pa overhaul mo na lang para bawas ang sakit sa ulo.

i'll update this thread.
talked to my sister earlier, she mentioned to me na tune-up and timing lang daw ginawa and the symptoms that i've talked about earlier here were all gone.

pwede pala ng ganun lang? hehehehehe.

anyway, i'll update this thread kung ano pa ang lumabas sa oto nya later.

yup. lalo na kung nag slip ang timing belt. kapag pinagtagal iyan, madadamay na ang ibang parte ng makina at kailangan na ng overhaul
