BEFORE:
Since May 2003, with the a/c off, my engine idles at 800 rpm. Once the a/c compressor engages, the engine compensates for the load drain and increases the idling to 1000rpm. This is normal as what I read from the Vitara shop manual. However, once the compressor goes off, instead of the rpm needle going back to 800, it dips to about 600rpm before it goes back to 800 rpm after about 2-3 seconds. I've tried readjusting the idle air control valve, etc. to no avail. Akala ko baka ECU na ang problem or Idle Air Servo Control (P6k ang kit).
TODAY:
Fixed the problem! Apparently, the auxillary fan for the a/c was sucking too much current from the electrical system. How did I discover it? Well, since 2 weeks ago after having an a/c cleaning at Tower of David, I noticed that whenever I use air conditioning and when the compressor disengages, it emits a short squealing sound. I brought my Zuk back there this morning. There was a new mechanic and I showed him the problem. He then listened to it and after a few minutes he said that the problem was due to my auxillary fan. I wouldn't believe him. He then disconnected the fusible link to the auxillary fan and told me to try it again. Aba, nawala! Tapos I noticed right away that my idling didn't dip! Wow, jackpot! My 5 month problem was now solved! Sabi niya kulang lang ng relay. We installed one and ayos na.
Hope this could help others out there with idling problems!
Siguro degraded na tapos resistance of the wires increased over time. Other factors that could be attributed to it include the various accessories installed also, etc.
i have the same problem, whenever my aux fax switch-on, my RPM dips. this is ok during the morning, but at night, namamatay siya. I think i'm using more electricity for aircon and headlight.
i did have an electrician check this, and below zero nga yung electrical current whenever the aux fan is on.
pero ayaw niya lagyan ng relay kasi may relay na daw ito, he suggested to change my alternator instead to a higher ampere.
me parang may ganun problem after nung lahar trail natin nung aug 9, when i turn on the aircon o naman, tapos biglang dip rpm with a sudden jerky move of the pajero then ok na ulit. i seem to get this a lot lalo na pag d pa cold ang engine.

sir, ganyan din ang problem ko which started just a few days ago. ok sya in the morning when wala kang electrical load from the headlights... dati naman syang ok tapos bigla na lang nagka ganito.... hmmmm...

pero, pwede ba yun...dalawa relay? sori ha wala me gano alam sa electrical. wiretap's feedback can surely help us on this coz am pretty sure may relay din sa fuse box ung ride nya.
anyways, dami ko na pinatignan problem ko inlcuding sa CASA. sa CASA gusto palitan buo yung aux fan mahina na daw...pero ok na ok pa naman e. a/c is malamig, no problem at all. alternator naman check yung output...consistent naman.
so i am convinced na sa electrical ung problem....rpm dips, parklight flickers then returns back no normal all these happen pag when aux fan and a/c engage....kaka-irita lang!
for our revo, wala naman aux fan pero naiinis ako sa jerky ride pag nagdisengage yung aircon..para bang nag-engine brake.. this only happens pag nasa 1st or 2nd gear..

opinion ko lang ...
if the system was working fine before May 2003, the problem was fixed but not properly repaired ... if the original circuit did not require a relay, it should have been repaired without installing a relay
the problem is voltage drop due to the aux fan's current and could have been easily fixed by a new wire (to replace a degraded wire) or cleaning a junction somewhere in the circuit

Mas ideal kung lalagyan ng switch or connected sa a/c compresor ang aux fan. Kung on-permanent connection, malakas ito maka-drain ng batteries lalo na pag on pa lang ng ignition switch. Which also adds load when cracking up the engine.
