dvldoc, have you already heard this product? from the website, it claims to dramatically reduce emissions and offer some level of fuel savings. On the FAQ portion, it says that it is better than using alcohol/methanol...

Is D-1280X free of Alcohol, Ethanol, Acetone, Ammonia and Kerosene?
Yes. And although the chemicals above can help reduce smoke, they increase Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) pollutants and lack essential lubricants and cause greater wear on engines, fuel pumps, o-rings etc.

I'm a doubting Thomas when it comes to additives and though Mon Tulfo is a good journalist, he is not an engineer or engine specialist and is basing his findings on personal experience which may be affected by a myriad of factors. I'll wait to hear from a credible source who backs up their findings with scientific findings than experience. I hope someone has more details about this additive. No one else in the automotive world seems to be raving about this wonder product.

I just did a search and could barely find any references regarding Dr. Morton Fainman and his research. I did fine these interesting links though which has to do with d1280x.

From Omstar CEO Rick Garland - "We demand that you take D-1280X off of your site immediately"

Omstar CEO Rick Garland's Demands - Part II

! Home of D-1280X Fuel Additives Factory Products !

Omstar D-1280x, reformulates gas and diesel fuel, increases gas mileage and fuel efficiency, reduces emissions, Military Tested, EPA Approved. Omstar 1280x

    d1280x.net

And from what I have read, there's barely any technical data about it. The way they're selling this is similar to GT oil and Now12 by saying how it reduces fuel consumption and is good for the environment.

Thank you for the information guys. My father drives an e36 and I would not want to cause any harm to the delicate BMW engine.

if you want to save on fuel consumption, either convert to Auto-LPG or get a small car.

Fuel additives that claim they save you fuel don't do what they claim. All they do is burn a hole in your wallet.

mebbe the "fuel additive" is made of... fuel !
that's why you get more miles.. because you put in more fuel in the tank.
    heh heh.

so, if it's so darn effective, why aren't we widely using it? it's been 8 years..
