now why would anyone want to turn his aux fan on and off manually, when a temp-dependent switch can do it automatically and more effectively?
malimutan mong i-on yan nang isang beses at warp ang head gasket... and when you have a guest driver, kasalanan pa siguro niya kapag..
re-wiring the aux fan back to auto mode is not difficult..

^ LOL. ginawang human thermostat.

    1. many modern direct-driven fans have a viscous coupling, sabi nga ni 12 volts. personally, i find this viscous mechanism more of a headache than an advantage...
    2. most engines have a thermostat inside them, whether their fans are direct-driven or electric aux fans. the thermostat interferes with radiator-engine block coolant exchange, so that the block gets to optimal temp faster..

Maybe for colder regions. Rad fan is designed to run at single / full speed.

Again, Its the hysteresis of the thermostat that delays reaching operating temp .

    no.
remember that in starting a cold engine, yung bumubugang hangin sa makina ay malamig din..
also, the heat coefficient of air vis-a-vis engine block metal, is so very small.. but if you can manage to vastly increase the surface area of the engine block, then we're in business. look at the air-cooled VW or most motorcycle engines..
that's why the designers included a thermostat in the engine block.
