I just want to point out the second alternative one proven to work.
I'm going to use some real world 4cly turbo diesel engines so you can see the difference.
I'm pretty sure Dieseldude can verify what I am saying is correct (not hype)
Here is a high mileage 1.8TDI VW motor, over 100 miles the motor need a rebuild needless to say but this is what may diesel engines will look like inside.

Now same make and model vehicle running water injection with around the same mileage on the vehicle.

You can block off the plate but what's already in there is pretty much there to stay. Why not eliminate the buildup all together.
