para ito sa mga tulad ko na nagaalangan magpakabit ng SRI kasi hindi ko alam kung ano ang pwedeng mangyari sa kotse. so here is it, its up for you to decide kung mag papalagay kayo nito. im not a guru, i dont know a lot about cars, i just want to share my experience sa short ram ng K&N.
i just installed a K&N short ram intake. had it installed in SOLAR GARD, near Alabang Town Center. the owner, is very accommodating. btw, its my first upgrade in my car hehe. no plans of changing anything else.
Simota Tube nga pala ito, because wala daw tube for civic ang K&N. then the filter i used is "cone" type ata tawag dito ng K&N. they said the tube has no bearing sa performance, ang important daw e yung filtering material. K&N is known for high air flow pero maganda din ang filtering capabilities.(nabasa ko lang din dito and sa ibang forums yun)
here is a video of it click the link:

a test drive without the intake:

a very short test drive with the intake:

i'll post a better video kapag nakuhanan ko uli.
here are the things i noticed:
Sound - of course, it changed a lot, seems like the engine is more powerful. maybe its just psychological hehe. but im sure its LOUDER than the stock. and its cool, lalo na pag floor mo yung gas hehe, growl!
Hp gains - i dont know, but the rpm seemed to go up faster.
Fuel consumption / kung matipid - this i will study, wala pa one week sa akin yung intake kasi hehe. plus dito dito lang kasi ako nagddrive e.
to conclude, i think its good naman, and its pretty cool. so for others out there who are hesitating, its up to you hehe. thanks!
Let me complement you on the set up you have on your civic.
Aside from SRI you must also know the purpose of CAI.
The box that you have removed serves that purpose.
But its possible to have a k&n, blits or AEM and CAI all inside your hood.
What is very important is you can enter more of the cleanest air at ambient or even cooler temperature inside your combustion chamber.
