What is the difference and benefits or disadvantages (if any) of the 2 types of spark plugs?

I haven't tried IRIDIUM yet, but it is supposed to be better in some ways like, decreased fouling, durability or long term reliability. At a higher price, I think

I am currently using NGK G-Power (Platinum type) and I can say that it is the best among that I've used so far. Malinis at swabe ang idle at acceleration with a little more than 2 yrs of use na.

compare sa stock na SP masmahal ang platinum and mas mahal naman ang iridium compare sa platinum.
been using both platinum ang iridium, platinum(NGK) sa civic and iridium(DENSO) sa revo both engine are stock, since both are stock wala naman akong nakitang gain when it comes sa performance, pero both almost 2 years na pero maganda parin ang takbo wala pang palya, ang ginagawa ko lang every 4 months cleaning ng spark plug, and other regular maintenance like change oil, siguro nakatipid na rin ako dahal sa tagal ng service nito.

IMHO go for stock na lang bro. wala naman noticeable gains kang makikita. Same with the overhyped 4 tip spark plugs.

Platinum mas matining ang sound Iridium stronger sparks ako i use BOSCH 4 tip spark plugs platinum matining ang sound ng engine pero gains wala naman masyado

iridium is sulit if mahirap abutin yung plugs like in the cases of some v6 engines.

pls recommend where to buy platinum or iridium plugs. OE is AC Delco 41-940 Denso number is PT16EPR-L13. DI ko alam ano equivalent ng Bosch at NGK.

bought 2nd hand platinums.

at least 3 years na hindi pa kailangan palitan. hindi man lang kailangan linisin kasi malinis pa.

technically, iridium is an element, so it should be more durable. platinum is an alloy so may halong ibang metals na sya.

but using both of them will not make your car run faster, smoother or be more fuel efficient. in fact, i've known guys who used these from their stock plugs tapos sumama pa ang takbo ng engine.

stick to stock na lang bro. mura pa. just change it every 10,000 kms.

i use the bosch super 4... no particular gains naman but i like them kasi tumatagal talaga. yung stock, before 10k lang may papalya na. then switched to bosch super 4, 40k nagpalit na ko pero wala pa palya. the only reason i changed is because natakot na ko na pumalya habang gamit ko.

Platinum is also an element, but it's the most precious one of them all, even more so than iridium (2nd) and gold (3rd). It's said all the world's platinum can fit in one small room. That's why each gram of platinum counts---usually they do use it in alloy form or maximize its surface area in its pure form. Case in point: catalytic converters have a platinum honeycomb in them.

Anyway back to topic...you won't go wrong with stock spark plugs. They're at the correct heat range for your engine, which is all that matters really. It's not as if you're gaining HP with better spark plugs alone...

Besides how expensive is a set of spark plugs anyway? Given how infrequently you have to replace them, they're dirt cheap.

sir i think yung ngk stock ng honda ko is around 50-75 ata isa (i forgot), so 300 set of four... then 10k lang gamit ko papalya pa. the super 4 goes for 800 set of four. then i use it until 40k (walang palya). kaya sulit for me.

About mid of Year 2005 pa ko huling bumili ng NGK G-Power *150 petot each ata or lesser. 1.1 mm yung gap kaya straight installation agad. Actually, hindi ko to nilinis for 2 years pero okey parin.

sorry, i've checked my periodic table of elements. platinum nga is an element too.

anyway, depende sa condition ng engine mo kasi talaga yan kung mabilis magdumi yung plugs mo eh. sa akin kasi, even though i replace plugs at 10k kms, malinis pa din, in fact, konting is-is lang, pwede na ulit, but since mura lang naman ang plugs, pinapalitan ko na rin lang ng bago.

stock plugs costs around 75 pesos each = 300 sa apat. compared to platinum plugs, i think it costs around 300 each = 1200 sa apat.

at 300 pesos twice a year = 600 pesos only per year.
mas mura pa din. kung magpapalit ka ng platimum plugs once a year o twice a year, halos pareho lang ang expenses. mas maganda pa ang takbo ng engine mo dahil bago plugs mo parati.

dont get too carried away by all the hype and commercials.check what is best for your car's performance(most of the time,the stock ones are the best mated for your engine unless its heavly modified)
im running a 600HP SUV(daily driver) and im using one of the cheapest line of NGK.(NGK TR6).im not using the cheapest plugs cause of money saving reasons but because its the best set/model/brand to match my engine set up.
