my office mate's kia avella has bad oxygen sensor, our mechanic told him. however, the available surplus sensors have 3 wires, 2 whites and 1 black. is there a way it can be use to replace considering that oxy sensor for avella has single wire? thanks in advance.

If I am correct, the oxygen sensor with 3 wires means it's a self-heated oxygen sensor. The ones with a single wire is heated using the car's exhaust, this results in inconsistent readings in certain conditions.

The 3 wire oxygen sensor has two wires for power and the 3rd is for the signal to the ECU. I think you can retrofit it but it won't work well unless you can give power to the heater.
