We used to have a brandnew L300 4d56 na ginagamit as public jeepney sa province. It took 6 years of daily hard use bago magsimulang mag consume ng oil. Pagdating sa ika8 years, talagang hindi na kaya ang oil consumption, 2liters per day na so nag decide na ipa overhaul. Almost lahat ng consumable parts pinalitan, piston, piston rings, bearings, cylinder liners, valves, etc. Pati injection jump at nozzles pina calibrate at pinalitan mga worn out parts.
After the overhaul, tumagal lang ng 3.5years of the same hard use, then nag start na uli mag consume ng oil.

All the while I thought na trouble free ang overhauling. Its not cheap to buy a new vehicle din kasi.

Does anyone know of certified mechanics in the metro?

    Nico,

Maybe you can give us the engine code so we can search people who can best undertake the task.
What are the signs that it needs an overhaul?

    to all tsikoteers,

i have a recommended mechanic here in las pinas...

I have seen him overhauled different engines mostly US brand cars and European cars...

magaling talaga ito mechanic na ito.. alam ang ginagawa.. i've seen him nag overhaul ng mustang V8 gas engine, and some mercedes bens 6cyl inling gas engine and diesel engines.. may mga reference books pa nga sya basehan ng overhauling...

you may visit his shop here in las pinas near Red Ribbon just after RFC mall if coming from zapote..

if you need his number pm me na lang..

aside from the mechanic the duration of the build will depend also on the parts you use. kung replacement lahat then it will last shorter than if you used oem parts.
