I'm not usually conscious about fuel economy but in the recent weeks the change in fuel economy is TOO DRASTIC.

My average has always been in the 8.5-9.5 km/l range. I rarely reach double digits (once in a blue moon) but 8.5-9.5 km/l is good enough for me. Now I am getting 7 km/l even when I had our driver who is SUPER TIPID drive my car. Worse was when I was getting 4 km/l. That's worse than a 2.4 Camry pa

My driving habits and route are the same. I understand that 12vdc told me to check the air filter (I will) But I did a bit of googling and I saw some comments that it could also be the fuel injector? I am so disappointed because in March 2023 I just replaced all 4 ignition coils which cost me P25k

So my car is turning 10 soon and I hope this is not the start of my headache kasi although it's 10, the mileage is only 44k. 2014 Altis 1.6 G A/T.

Try din mag lagay ng fuel injector cleaner sa next full tank + blaze, tapos road trip sa Tagaytay na papalo ng 5k rpms.

    Napalitan na din ATF?

Does the car feel slower or more lethargic? Any engine lights? Any odd vibrations?

    Hi Ms. Cathy,

I hope its only a Fuel to Air Ratio issue. Things to check:

    1. Air Filter
    2. Spark plugs (given the coils have been replaced already)
    3. MAF Sensor (If still OK, cleaning will be enough)
    4. VVTI Solenoid ((If still OK, cleaning will be enough)
    5. VVTI Filter/strainer
    6. Throttle body

    Other things to consider checking/cleaning:
    1. Oxygen Sensor
    2. Auto Transmission (check and feel if there are issues with changing gears or sliding)
    3. Brake system (are there any stuck up calipers?)
    4. Tire pressure
    5. Throttle body
    6. Engine oil condition

By the way, kindly check your exhaust tip for carbon deposits. If it is too much, then its a sign that you burn too much gasoline!

    Thank you

i'd do a nice slex or nlex stretch, to burn off "deposits". target a nice gustatory destination at the turnaround point, to make the chore more attractive.
then i'd do my km/li figuring again.
it's cheaper than bringing it to the atelier, where the temptation to spend a lot of needless money, is strong.

    errr,
why did you replace your ignition coils? were they symptomatic?
25K! parang muy caro... as kags would blurt, "san ginawa 'to?"

Years ago, i had a relative working at toyora dealership in QC. Everytime they get a complain na mabagal, malakas sa gas, etc., itatanong nila sa service advisor kung babae ba ang owner or driver. If yes, they will remove the odometer, use the car hataw all the way sa NLEX. Pagbalik sa casa maganda na takbo.

That was the time na wala pa enforcement ng speed limit sa NLEX so more than 2 decades ago

If my memory serves me right, her car broke down sometime back and an ignition coil was the culprit...

I would suggest that you have your air sensor checked...

I think a sensor is not working correctly kaya you're burning more fuel that usual.

Have a competent technician with a good quality scan tool(not a code reader) and record the STFT and the LTFT(short term fuel trim and long term fuel trim). This way, it will tell whether the PCM is trying to correct the air/fuel ratio by adding or reducing fuel delivery.
