The picture shows the diesel engine of my Innova 2.5G

There is a layer of black, oily grunge accumulated around the small rubber hose near the pcv and on the underside of the large rubber hose.

When the grunge is removed, I can find a small amount of light yellowish oil accumulated around of the joint of the pcv and the small hose after the car has been used for one or two days.

Is this normal in diesel engine as the Toyota technician told me?

    Please answer in English.

I have no idea when the oil leak began to occur.

My car is only 2 years old and is maintained by Toyota.

If the leak is inevitable, manufacturer should have installed a device to catch the oil and not let it be seen by the user.

an auto "expert" said years ago, that the use of these scrawny, wire hose clamps, three of which are shown in the picture (two large ones, one small one), was intended primarily for assembly purposes . he recommended to have these "clamps" replaced by the more effective hose clamps that we can easily source from auto parts stores.
my guess is, your problem will disappear when you replace this one, sir.

btw, my innova's is dirtier than yours. and i haven't replaced the clamp, either. guilty... guilty... heh heh.

Kind of similar to my post: At around 1500KMs, napansin ko there is an oily hose coming to the air filter housing

I believe this is the PCV and should be solved by an oil catch can/tank... I myself do not have one installed yet, naghahanap pa ako ng can with (almost)similar size fittings

A friend of mine who is not from Toyota said it is normal. You cannot totally eliminate oil from escaping the engine together with the blow-by gases.

Install an oil catch can if you wish not to see oil leaks from that part.

I experience the same behavior at only 1500 on the odo, and noticed the same on another 2KD engine with less than 10,000KMs so hindi siya sa clamps lang.

I have the same case, oily residue around the PCV valve hose connecting to the intake chamber. It is normal, as oil comes from the blow-by gasses emitting from the PCV valve. I installed an oil catch can, then replaced the clamps with the screw-type ones, after which the oil build up is gone.

    2006 Innova E D4-D, btw.

Seems install a catch can is the only solution.

Do you think install a catch can in the engine in warranty period will provide toyota an excuse to void the warranty?

If its toyota, they will viod your warranty for the most ridiculous reasons. They so big, one complaining customer will not put a dent in their sales.
