    when you had the timing belt replaced and the front end of the engine open, there were a few things we call in the automotive service field as MAW (might as well). you already had a downtime of about two hours to replace the timing belt, you might as well had the oil seals replaced, the timing belt tensioner, timing belt idler if applicable and the water pump if it is driven by the timing belt. it is similar to any surgery in you abdomen, if you are open, the doctor might as well take care of your appendix, right? while you're at it, might as well. it could save you time and trouble having it opened again. if it was a beater double u( rust magnets), everytime the timing belt has been disturbed, it is recommended by bmw to have it replaced. now you will have to pay another fee to have the surgery that could have been done with just an additional time of half an hour plus not to mention the downtime.

    did you replace the cam and crank seals along with the timing belt? if not then it's probably coming from there and you have to open it up again now just to do it.

    I don't think it is the make of the car. May it be Honda,Toyota,BMW etc etc since they all have similar designs and run at almost same specs.
    Blame it on the mekaniko. When you want to get it done, do it yourself. Don't trust any Filipino mekaniko on the streets or elsewhere as there is no real education here for automotive.
    *Get a Helms manual from e-bay or download it somewhere.
    *Get only genuine parts from Japan or states as the cost is not much different even cheaper sometimes (if you are using a JDM engine).
    I have many horrors having my cars fixed before. In the end it costs me more on labor than doing it myself and getting my parts elsewhere.
    You can get it fixed by a mekaniko but then again you risk stuff like that.

    To your problem:

    There is a great possibility that the oil seal was installed baliktad or not sitting correctly. Yes sometimes the leak will only show up after a few months. I was stupid with my rack and pinion assembly before. I installed the seal facing the wrong direction and it only began leaking after 1 year of driving. After I disassembled it again the seal was completely in tact (No damage of wear out). When replacing this you must make sure you TORQUE your pulley nut to specs as you do not want it flying out while you drive your car.
