    Why are they adding it to the intake like that? You can bet it's just 2T oil.

    Wouldn't it depend on the source of the black smoke? ... if the engine's piston rings are worn out, it might help temporarily to seal the piston/cylinder gap.

    or castor oil... same effect if you put castor oil on your air intake
