Napansin ko lang na pag mainit na yung makina ng 97 Accord, umiilaw ang CEL tapos namamatay ang makina. Usually, 15 - 20 mins. after using the car (kahit I'm on the road and cruising at 30kmh). Tapos, when I re-start, puro redondo na lang, hindi tumutuloy. Pag malamig na ang makina, (again, mga 15 minutes after the engine dies), one-click na ang start.

I used to think na fuel pump ang problem, pero given the circumstances, mukhang hindi.

Anybody here who has a similar problem? Am starting to think na baka engine coil. Magkano ba engine coil ngayon for 5th Gen Accord?

    TIA!

It could probably be your ignition coils.

The worst kind of problem to have is an intermittent one. You may have a bad ignition switch, it could be the distributor or it could be anything in between. Until the part fails consistently (it probably will happen at the worst time) you can either replace parts until you find the right one or try and diagnosis when it fails. Other than that you can leave it with a mechanic and let them drive it until it fails. Honda does have a history of bad distributors, but I would not replace it until I know it is bad. I would not travel with a vehicle like this, its bad enough being stuck in town, much less out of town.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

CEL wil log a fault in the ECU, and keep it stored as long as you don't disconnect the battery. This can be scanned by Honda or any good workshop which has scan capability; and the fault will immediately be pinpointed, no guesswork.

I used to think na fuel pump ang problem, pero given the circumstances, mukhang hindi.

Anybody here who has a similar problem? Am starting to think na baka engine coil. Magkano ba engine coil ngayon for 5th Gen Accord? You won't be guessing if it's the fuel pump, coil, etc. that's causing the problem... Trial and error parts replacement will cost you more in the long run, and you may not even be able to correct the true fault.

    TIA!

you should have the code checked nga. normally, the ignition coil will not throw a trouble code which will cause the cel to come on. more likely it the ckp sensor but this is built into the distributor which means that if yun yung problem, you will have to buy a whole distributor to fix the problem.

before you do that though, be sure... check the code.

Update ko lang tong thread na to...

Had my main relay changed last week, pero surplus din. Well, so far, I think that did it. Drove over 30 kilometers since changing it, and the engine hasn't stalled yet.

It's still under observation, pero mukhang ok na nga...thanks to Bambino and V6dreamer for the tip.
