Hi guys.. Just wanna ask for your opinion.. I'm due for change oil this month and may ride has been using mineral oil from casa.. I'll be moving out of casa and i'm looking for options for my car.. I'm eyeing on royal purple oil and they said that it can be replaced after 10k kms or 1 year.. I thought that it is practical kasi i don't have to shell out 2k every 3 months (8k) for the whole year for a mineral oil.. Here's the issue, i use my car almost eveeryday except pag coding or pag sa bahay lang ako.. In an average, ang distance na natatakbo is almost 10-12kms a day pure city driving and occasional out of town trips.. Should i go with RP or other oil? Car is almost 3y.o. And nasa 13k palang natatakbo.. Thanks in advance!

almost 3yo and 13k kms pa lang natakbo? wow! low mileage naman. stick to mineral oil na lang at although daily drive mo, short trips lang naman.

Also using Zic in 2 of our cars. So far so good. Semi synthetic oil at a price of a mineral oil. Will try this on our SUV that uses 7L of oil. Mas tipid talaga sa price and sa savings sa fuel compared to ordinary 20w50.

Since it's a pure city dweller, might be better to change oil more frequently (5t kms). City driving is more stressful for the engine hence more frequent OCI, IMO.

Delvac MX is about p250/L, for reference. RP would cost more than double that.

Gaano na katagal Delvac MX mo sir? Ayaw ko lang sa Delvac in the first weeks na bago siya sa engine ko. Ay parang may maganit na tunog, pero nawawala rin agad.

I use Petron Rallye and Petron Trekker currently and they're both good in my opinion. I play it safe though and change every 5,000 though for petrol and 4,000 for diesel.

I use Mobil1 FS 0W-40 USA silver bottle.

The Fort and Fozzy cover less 2,000 kms each annually. So change oil only once a year. Also used with Fleetguard oil filter.

The old 99 Civic uses Mobil1 Delvac MX or Rimula R4X with B1402. It covers less than 5K annually so change oil once a year also.

Year 2005. Both cars actually year 2005, almost the same accurred mileage din around 140K - 150K kilometers already. Iniisip ko kung try ko yung zic a. Kaso this is a fully synthetic one right? Mas okay ba mag semi-synthetic oil pag lumang car na?

Year 2005 car hindi pa luma yan. Check the toyota thread here in tsikot or sa ibang forum ko ata nabasa yun meron mga gumagamit ng zic A pero ang kotse 1989 small body corolla 4afe engine. Carburador pa yun. I heard yun iba kumakarera small body corolla ang ginagamit yung zic A+ fully synthetic.

zic A ang semi-syn. For 730 pesos 4liters na ang laking natipid mo.

^ was also looking for an oil that would better protect an old engine. 140k on odometer.
my engines api rating is SG SH or SJ.

SG and SH is obsolete na sa api website. SJ is still ok.

    for now
Zic Up is rated CI-4 / SL
    Zic A is rated SN
    Castrol Magnatec rated SN
    Mobil Super 200O rated SM/SN
    Shell Helix hx7 rate SM/SN

which oil to use that would give better or should I say added protection to an old engine?
