Group 3. Mineral base + additives

Maybe yan ung gusto sabihin nung oil extreme. In the US, a mineral base oil with enough additives can be marketed as "fully synthetic".

    +1.

george69 please create your own thread and explain everything there, and most importantly be prepared for criticisms. This thread itself is informative and is about engine oils, not additives in the first place. Hangga't maaari sana, we hope it stays that way.

pag nag nagsabi ka ng claim like additive that will make your mineral oil perform better than FS oil, handa ka na sa criticism kahit papano... dahil it will contradict existing knowledge and existing accepted proven facts...

if the claim is true and legitimate, most companies like mobil, amsoil, royal purple, redline, motul, liqui moly, BP, will have to shutdown their operation with regards to their synthetic line of products...

Who among you have tried the Oil Extreme? Hesitant din ako as a consumer to try it.

any other recommendation is highly appreciated

Any of the 3 oils you have mentioned can be used for 10000 km OCI but baldwin or fleetguard filters should be used, kung wala makuha nyan Bosch is Ok na rin much better than Oem but change the filter only at 5000km for Bosch mura lang naman. If sa casa ka magpapachange oil no choice but to use oem filter. Outside oil pag dinala mo sa mitsubishi casa may charge. Diamond motors lang pwede magdala ng oil at sariling filter ng walang charge

Thank you for the input sir i will try delo 400 then. tama ba, kung baldwin or fleetguard after 10k na din ang palit nung filter? I plan to go to Volmax and buy baldwin filters. just in case na walang stock kasi sa mga nabasa ko dito nagkakaubusan yata di ba pwedeng oem filter tapos change filter na lang ulit sa 5k? just asking kasi baka lang di pumayag casa at least may option ako. anong model of bosch pala ang para sa montero? kasi yung baldwin bd28 dapat tama? additional question na din. since nag turbo XP ako nung 10k, kailangan ko na ba mag-change oil sa 15k or change filter then top up ok na?

Pag nakita nyo PDS ng delo 400. There are several categories
    - Performance standard is ci4 then after that
    - Meets the requiremnts cd, cf na lang.
    Nakakalito di ba?

    IMHO 2 thiings kasi yan.

CD, CF rating has high zinc and Phos level requirements which right now is being reduced due to issues in newer cars. Since CD,CF oils of yesteryear cannot meet current ratings without additives, all chevron is saying that despite having high levels of anti-wear, it also has high levels of other additives which current diesel cars needs.

API certification is expensive. What some oil companies do is test the oil using the method of API but without their certifiation na lang to avoid addt'l cost IMO. Afterall, if their oil passes it, then they believe na kahit i-test pa ng API eh papasa din.

Pero dito wala naman, mukhang nagpa-certify na sila. Dec 5 2012 ito. Ito yung latest PDS nila. https://cglapps.chevron.com/msdspds/...&docFormat=PDF

Agree bro..certification entails cost. But having a duly licensed Certification means the Company is really serious on their product by maintaining its quality all the time. Having a certification is just like a bragging rights.. A badge that is recognized internationally and is continuously being monitored by the certifying bodies if they are compliant or not. Having this badge costumer are confident on their product consistency and quality all the time.

If your Montero is 3.2 4M41 use Bosch OM 084 - Php 350?, if its 2.5 4D56 use Bosch OM 036 - Php 300?. You can also use OM 084 if there is ample clearance inside the 4D56. (Will not fit in L300 4D56 due to lack of clearance).

Since both filters are inexpensive, its better to just change them after 5,000 kms. Besides diesel is dirtier here due to the sulfur levels so more frequent change of oil and filter is better, IMO. You can use inexpensive multigrade mineral oils like Caltex Delo Gold (yellow cap) , Shell Rimula R3X, etc....

This is what i did with mine.

0km-1000km: I assume this is Turbo XP

1000km-7000km: Turbo XP (didn't have time kaya sumobra ako, 5000km dapat ito)

    7000km-11000: Casa mineral oil

    11000km-now: Royal Purple HPS

I was thinking about extending the mineral oil for another 1000km, but the the drop in FC was about 500php per full tank, so i decided to switch back to fully synthetic. Several motoroil forums and manufacturer websites recommend using mineral oil for 3000 miles or 4800km.

About the mineral oil for "old/high mileage" engine, first of all, if the engine has a leak, it should be fixed.

    Will post specifics later...

Baligtad yata ito sa sinabi sa amin ng isang oil-chemical engineer working for a big oil company:
    1. First 20KKm - mineral oil - for the engine parts to sit properly
    2. Next 20KKm or so - semi-synthetic oil
    3. And then fully-synthetic oil all the way....

Bro.,- mukhang isa lang ang source natin dito,- iyon bang Shell sa may J.Aguilar Ave./SouthVille Intl School?

I'll take a picture of their guideline/poster on the recommended engine oil one of these days and post it here for our reference/debate(?)....
