sa label ng oil---just wanna clarify:
"synthetic" is it different from "fully synthetic"
etong ginamit ko is zic - "synthetic" while ung ginamit ko before na motul h100 "fully synthetic"
ano anong engine oil po ang gamit nyo? tomorrow i'll fill up my 4d56t with Mobil delvac mx 15w40, currently using Royal Purple 15w40
You should try to get Mobil delvac 1300 if it's availble. It has a much better additive package for old school diesels.
Prone to sludge pag laging short trips na hindi umiinit ang makina. I've seen this on a Honda Civic averaging 2kms of travel a day for 3 years. Buti na lang may Auto Rx. I think it might be better to change it earlier than 5,000kms if you only take short trips or always get into heavy stop and go traffic.
Delvac mx is mineral based, I also use it on my trucks.
regular oil shell helix hx5 mineral oil (yellow container) every 5k or less sa akin..
Fully Synthetic Oil is always the better option kung may budget ka naman. Hindi kasi agad nag bbreakdown yung molecules nito so hindi basta basta nag fform ng sludge. It also provides better engine protection against wear during cold starts. Like the posters above me, if you can afford Fully Synthetic every 5k kms, go for it. Best is to stick with manufacturer's recommendations.
What if you don't travel that much? How long do we change oil? Is 3 months the least and 6 months the latest for Mineral/Semi-synthetic?

thank you sirs.
OT:
For old school diesel engine, I was told before that when starting it cold, we must let the engine idle and let it warm-up for 2-3 mins before shifting gears and floor the gas pedal. Does this holds true with modern CRDi engines?
diesel or gas, ugali ko pa rin yun konting idle time to let all the engine bearings receive enough oil before running the vehicle. observe ko muna kung may unusual sound, idiot lights turning on, etc.
eto ginagawa ko eh esp on long trips:
1. open hood and check all fluids
2. start if ok then listen for abnormal engine sounds, visual check on front rotating parts.
3. walk around vehicle to check brake system for leaks
4. go if ok.
so far wala pa naman akong ginawang beside-the-road repairs dahil dito sa routine ko sa vehicle.
mukhang magiging thread eto for the "idling myth" ah. hehe
