Another question. Owning Accent Hatch CRDI, and knowing that turbocharged engines are a little bit sensitive compared to NA engines. Torn between Shell Helix Ultra Diesel 5w40 and Zic X7 Diesel 5w30. Which is better to use? Currently using Helix Ultra and planning to OCI soon. Living in province of Batangas and no traffic like in Metro Manila, averaging 6k - 7k kms per year. I have something to do in my mind in using one of this oil.

Using Helix Ultra (5w40)
-planning to change once a year and change OEM oil filter every 6 mos
-"Shell", no doubt with regards to its quality

Using Zic X7 (5w30)
-planning to change every 6 mos
-5w30
-(No Offense) I have a little bit doubt about the quality of this oil, cause its cheap for a Fully Synthetic Oil.

Please help me in choosing the better oil for my car. Thanks so much and Happy New Year.

If you are enclined to change oil once a year, you might want to try a heavy duty oil filter. It will save you time, money, effort, and a liter of oil.

Been doing the zix x7 thing for 2 hyundai vgts for 2 years already. No problems whatsoever

oci for the 5.3L sump is 15000/12mo for normal, 7500/6mo for severe.

look for acea a3/b4 for 1yr oci.

I use Mobil 1 0W40 FS and Baldwin Filter. I change oil once a year (5-6k km)...

In the scenario you are giving i personally would go go with zic x7 changed every 6mos. If however you are more concerned with the economy aspect a good mineral oil (e.g. delo mgx et. al) change every 6mos is also my bet.

Speaking of Zic, any long-time Zic user here (preferably on Diesel applications)?

I only started using it (Zic X7 10W40) maybe a month or two ago and there's really nothing out of the ordinary other than hearing less chatter from the engine. That's compared to using Toyota FS 5W40.
