Mineral , semi synthetic or fully synthetic?

not that significant in theory. even my 2014 car only requires api-sl.

tbh i havent seen any api-sm oils..

whats the vehicle in question?

since my odo is expected to hit 15,000km this saturday, i had to look for replacement baldwin bt223

the other guy whom i bought it from last year suddenly does not respond anymore so looked for another

too bad the only seller i found requires me to buy oil along with the filter (understandable since COD for a single filter is just not worth it)

unfortunately the best oil he offers is a fully synthetic API SM one (ZIC XQ 5w40)

my engine is currently loaded with Helix 7 (which is API SN)

SL, SM and SN are allowed on the manual

just wanted to know if there are any easily felt (non placebo) effects between SM and SN

may nabasa ako dito na mas maganda parin mineral with shorter interval vs. synthetic with longer interval. pero case to case din like red_one, iirc once a year sya magpalit (fully synthetic) kasi low mileage per year use nya.

Much better to use conventional oil and replace it every 5k kms or 6 months. Sa fully synth, you still have to replace the oil filter.

We change the oil not to really change it just bcoz it loses viscosity and effectiveness, we remove dirt.

The only way to figure out if you can do extended OCI is to do a UOA. Otherwise, 6-month oil changes would be considered safe.

I have my EGR blocked off so I have decided to stick to an OCI of 12 months or 10k, whichever comes first. Oil filter is still changed plus oil top-up every 6 months.

Sa Swift natin, it's .5-1 liter.
