IMHO, the driver has to adjust his/her driving habits.

of course timing is a must. Iwasan ang katatapak ng preno, anticipate your distance hindi tutok para maiwasan ng preno. Remember, accelaration gulp too much gas.

Have it adjusted to its factory specs, tune it up to its optimal performance, and then from there adjust your driving habits. Remember, braking is wasted energy (in the form of heat) so use momentum as long as you can. Accelerate slower, and avoid decelerating. If you must, do so well before your estimated stopping point to minimize loss of momentum. Adjust tire pressures too, that helps attain good fuel economy, and finally remove any junk in your car that you don't need.

You can't do much really, since your car is an automatic. A/T equipped cars tend to consume more fuel than M/T equipped cars of the exact same specifications. If you don't know when it's last been done, have the ATF replaced too - drain and refill lang yan wag mo na ipa-flush.

may i also suggest you have the throttle body cleaned, all oxygen sensors, valves adjusted and timing set for the particular type of fuel you like to use.

tyre pressures to 31psi. oil change to thinner, more fuel efficient grades (like 10w-30 or 40).

Put a brick under the gas pedal hehehe. . . Kidding aside oil viscosity really helps kasi thinner oils tend to free the engine components and thus contributing to fuel economy. Pero If I Were you i'd stick to factory specs na lang, and ease of the gas pedal.

    - keep your car in top condition.
    - i also read na don't go beyond 80kph daw.
    - make your car lighter, basic tools at spare tire lang ang dapat na laman ng compartment.
    - +1 sa oem timing settings.
    - correct tire pressure.

    others:
kapag malapit lang pupuntahan, commute na lang.

    OT:
malapit na naman ang weekend, tataas na naman ng piso. :-(

Less viscous or thinner oils allow the parts to have less friction between them, requiring less energy, and therefore less fuel to be consumed. It also provides easier starts, which again means less fuel consumed to start the engine compared to a thicker oil.

you can try doing hyper-mileing techniques when possible to stretch to the maximum each liter of fuel you have.

    -smooth and easy acceleration
    -moderate maximum speed
-use coasting as much as possible
-use the brakes as little as possible
-use the car's natural deceleration as you slow to a stop at intersections

Driving at a certain speed with your manual tranny in neutral. The car would simply move using the momentum you have built up.
