mag speedyfix ka na lang po. lapit lang sa inyo and i think meron sila mga promo change oil..sa fuel filter naman, depends sa brand ng car ninyo, any auto shop should have the equivalent, just make sure you have the parts number or tell them the exact model of your car. i bet sa speedyfix they have that as well.

imho and afaik, the shell synthetic package change oil is around 3k pesos. includes 4 liters of full synthetic, oil filter and labor.

what i would suggest is you get your oil outside (shell fully synth is excellent). and just go to a shell station and get the filter and labor from them. can save you at least around 15% of the cost.

laki kasi ng patong nila sa oils eh. mas mura sa Ace Hardware (where i get my Shell Semi-Synth oil too.)

kasi, hindi naman sila nag change oil if your oil is not shell.

pero yes, punta ka na lang kay speedyfix. i think he uses Royal Purple and Motul.

honda vtec-lev fully synthetic pa rin the best i've tried so far. and i've tried plenty (including all variants of the mobil fully syn brand). if you go for synthetic and plan to leave it in the engine for 1 whole year, best to get the orig honda oil filter. it's bigger and heavier than Vic filters, so it could have more filtration mass sa loob. mas maganda.

if you'll just change oil out after 5 -6 months or so, go regular mineral na lang. panalo pa din yung 10w-40 ng honda casa. 850 all in pati labor and oil filter. orig pa.

NEVER EVER use cheap 20w-50 oil. masyado malapot. lalakas pa sa gas ang crv mo. but don't use the super thin oils either (mobil 0w-40). my old crv developed scuffed camlobes after using this oil and havoline energy 5w-40.

Kakatapos lang ng warranty period ng kotse ko. Had my last oil change in January I think, so I have Honda's fully-synthetic oil in my sump (which is actually provided by Idemitsu).

Now I'm rather curious, opting between Motul (at Autoplus) or Royal Purple (at Speedyfix). Matagal-tagal pa naman ako bago ko kailangang magpalit ng langis ulit.

these days any synthetic will do nicely anyway...

in fact, most mineral oils are patok na din for value. kahit yung sa petron with the lousy packaging. wag lang yung 20w-50s.

if i had a lot of money i'd stick with honda branded oil. there's some sort of implied warranty for the engine internals if you take it to them for servicing on a regular basis since 50% of broken internals result from bad oil pagdating sa honda. oil lang nila gamit mo eh, so if you suddenly break a camshaft, wala naman sila sisisihin eh, hehehe. and if you're friendly and remember to tip the SA from time to time, you can have things checked out for free.

    Good Day...

You mentioned - you want to do it yourself... and also, gusto niyo makatipid.

    My question... bakit kailangan synthetic?

If you want makatipid.. then you can change your oil yourself. This is probably one of the easiest job for any DIYer's.

Any 10W40 Oil will do... But in my experience...(that includes racing and daily driving), Ultron is one of the best cheap oils you can buy.

Buy a filter... and buy also a filter spanner tool... marami diyan sa auto-supply or ACE or Handyman.

Be sure to warm your engine up at least 5 minutes... turn it off. See your owners manual to locate the Drain Plug... then alow oil to drain but see to it you have an old plastic or Can big enough to hold all your used oil.

removing the oil Cap is also advised when you do this... para mabilis bumaba yung langis.

Then as is cools down... you may remove the oil filter. To remove it... use the Oil Filter removal tool... since this is somewhat not easy to turn with your bare hands. As soon as this is done. You can ready your new Oil Filter by applying a small amount of oil on the seals.. (o-ring, subber seal) facing the metal surface of the engine block. Be sure to wipe the mating area with a clean clothe para walang dumi. Then Hand tight the oil filter in place (clockwhise rotation)... see to it that aligned ang filter dun sa thread ng inlet stud ng engine block para hindi masira yung filter. (just do it with care) dont over tight it para hindi masira ang seal.

WHen this is done... and wala ng tumutulo na oil... then you can put back the drain plug in place... and pour in your new Oil.

Replace the Gas Cap... then start your engine.

Para - mas sigurado... I would suggest using NewOil additive (P500 per treatment). This is an additive that treats the metal and conditions your oil ... it elliminates oil acidity and keeps your engine frictionless too. )(based on my experience... what I suggested made my engines more efficient and I get to enjoy them for less than the average cost you are doing with your car.) And when you do this... you dont have to change oil for the next 2 years. You may if you want but it will only be unnecessary. (This is where real savings comes in) (not to mention your engine's protection - wear and tear is prolonged and will mean savings again from periodic maintenance).

With the above tip... you will be able to lower your Oil-Change cost to roughly P1,500 more or less (All in)

Allow extra P100. for your merienda, for sure, medyo pagpapawisan ka when you do this.

    I hope this helps.

ok na sana eh, kaso nasingitan pa ng additives, IMO no need for additional additives....

so the oil doesn't keep the internal parts of the engine frictionless? I always thought that the oil does that, hinde pala...and hinde magpapalit ng oil for 2 years!? sobrang galing naman ng additives mo...hehehe

Most car manufacturers do not recommend using oil additives. I belive they even put it in writing in the manual or warranty booklet.

I think the best oil for your car, is the one that your budget can afford... .... additives are all hype.... engine oil is formulated with ALL the necessary additives for your vehicle's engine... so one should never experiment adding this or that without proven and verified results....
