Good day to all! I'm a newbie here in this forum and I find the topics both fun and informative. Anyhow, I am planning on buying an OTJ as a project. I was thinking of what engine should go in it. Yung reliable at fuel efficient but may sipa pa rin. Then yung body ng owner yung short wheelbase lang at galvanized. just like those "tamiya" type bodies but hindi yung uber low. yung tama lang just like the ride height of a stock toyota corolla. Ano sa tingin ninyo yung ideal engine para dito? Hope you can enlighten me.

sabi nga nila 4k daw ilagay ko. easy to acquire yung mga parts at tipid talaga sa gas. pero di gaano kalakasan ang torque. i was thinking of a 12r or 18r toyota engine. yun kasi dating makina ng jeep ni tito. good power and fuel consumption yung 12r. i don't know about the 18r pero sabi sa akin maganda raw iyon pero hard to find replacement parts dahil may kalumaan na raw. a friend told me to get a 4a-ge engine but i think di siya ganun ka tipid sa gas.

i've read some topics and information's about the 4k engine. by just making changes to it and balancing the engine, it will have a impressive bottom end. some don't recommend making it a top end mod because of the conditions we have here. mas appropriate daw ang bottom end mod sa engine then yung gearing na lang sa diff yung babaguhin. as for transmission mas prefer nila yung 4 speed dahil it goes well with the engine talaga. then shaving the flywheel kung walang makuhang lightweight flywheel. then sa exhaust, 1.5" yung ideal. then poof bullet proof na yung 4k engine. i think i need more info about this. share ninyo lang guys. gusto ko kasi well planned yung execution ng project ko kasi.

I don't think so, yung 4K ko kasi I just tune it into its original stock setting, intake and exhaust valve .008mm and .010mm and viola! i got the trick for fuel efficiency and power, depende rin a, kasi baka mamaya mag-sisi ka lang, ako kasi nabibitin ako sa expressway sa 4k 4speed, nanghihinge pa ng kambyo e wala 4speed lang e,...siguro yung takbo ko sagad na to 80 - 90kph lang, pero pagnag-tatagaytay naman ako aaaah, kayang-kaya umovertake yung OTJ ng altis at vios sa mga uphill ng tagaytay...yung otj Toyota 4k ko kasi bago ko napatino e ang dami kong pinalitan..carbureator, distributor, high tension wires, alternator, radiator, water pump..almost 3mos. din sunod-sunod ang cashoutflow ko dahil sa pagkokondisyon ng otj ko. but now hell yeah, it's now total reliable and durable vehicle, sulit ang gastos....hard as rock na..gamit na lang ako ng gamit e. ska swertehan na lang kung makakuha ka ng surplus 4K engine in a good condition as in isasalpak mo na lang at wala ka ng papalitan pa,

pero kung ako lang, the best option would be settle for a diesel engine...like Isuzu C190, efficient like a motorcycle, pulling power is like a mini-truck.

Ideal Engine for an OTJ
