ano ba yung top overhaul, carb overhaul at general overhaul? sorry ha? la talaga akong alam.. yung top overhaul ba yung mina-machine shop yung cylinder head?
kapag na-machine shop na yun di na pwedeng i-machine shop uli? kung cylinder head nga yung mina-machine shop, pwede ba palitan nalang ng bago yun kesa ipa-machine shop? magkano kaya aabutin nun?
may nabasa ako dito, pareho kami ng nangyayari sa oto, nag-cho choke sya, minsan may white smoke na lumalabas. sabi sa kanya baka kailangan ng ipa-carb overhaul.. ano ba yun? ang lakas din nya mag-ubos ng langis, tapos halos every 2 weeks nababasa yung sparkplugs ko kaya pumapalya yung makina. may idling problem din, nakakatakot dalhin kasi taas-baba yung RPM lalo na pag binubuksan ko yung aircon, talagang bumababa sa zero, kala ko nga matitirikan ako umiilaw yung battery samantalang wala pang one year battery ko. kaya hindi ko rin madala kay Speedyfix kasi takot akong dalhin.
plano ko na tlagang dalhin kay Mr. Speedyfix, nag-iipon lang..
saka ask ko lang, meron na ba dito nagpalit ng transmission na hanggang ngayon ok pa transmission nila? gano na sya katagal sayo? nag-inquire kasi ako sa banawe, 16K sinisingil sakin, 1 month lang ang warranty, natakot ako kasi baka after a month sira na sya.

i have the same problem: production of white smoke, choking engine and a warning battery symbol that lights on during traffic. you must step on the gas pedal to stop the engine from turning off. magkano ba yang carb overhaul?

April 20th, 2008 03:30 AM #3Ako rin, kailangan ko rin ng overhaul according sa mechanic na nakausap ko dati sa banawe. Can anyone recommend a shop in the QC E-Rod Araneta Ave. area that does good work at a reasonable price?
Toyota Corolla na '94 ang kotse ko.

general overhaul - baba buong makina, lower block machined and re-bored and then re-sleeved. main and conrod bearings palit tapos ibabablance ulit. palit headgasket, cylinder head checked or shaved if necessary. lahat ng bits ng makina baklas lahat pati barbula then checked at titignan kung walang tama/warpage etc etc
top overhaul (dukot) - cylinder head tanggal, shaved, palit headgasket, palit piston rings, valve seals etc etc. engine block stays where it is gagalawin lng piston rings.
carburettor overhaul - baba yung buong carburador, baklas, linis, palit jets, float, and then tuned. mura lang ito jan sa kamias ang dami gumagawa nito.
basically everything about a car where major repairs are done can be called overhauls. meron pa nga general electrical overhaul, brakes overhaul.

maki add nalang po ako ng question regarding valve clearance.
how come mechanics use the term straight 8" or straight 12"?
what does it got to do with .mm (millimeters)?

Dukot i think is a term used by which pistons are removed the from the block without dismounting the engine. Its done by removing the crankcase cover from beneath and untightening the conrad journal bolts and slipping it above the topside of the block. Crankshaft, main bearings, journals and bolts are untouched. I think that is why its dukot because dudukutin mo bolts from beneath and dudukutin mo rin pistons from the block topside. Replacing the piston rings and oil rings or piston/s or conrad or bushings and/or pins is the objective of this task. I think the conrad bearing can not be replaced during dukot because the crankshaft is not be available for machining.
General overhaul is works on the block and sometimes both block and head while top overhaul is mainly head works. The head works usually goes first and the block works much later.Last edited by 4JGtootsie; April 21st, 2008 at 12:01 AM.

example: yung tamaraw fx, bakit straight 8" when the valve clearance on the sticker on the engine bay is 0.30 mm?
