Has anyone tried using Hurricane drop in filters? It's made in Japan, stainless steel type and no oiling. Are they good? Does it have good filtration properties?

Well if you want high silicon contamination in your oil then go for it. These filters are really for track use only, And if you have a turbo they are even worse for you. They simply do not provide enough filtration especially in high dust areas like the Philippines. They flow great, but with extra flow comes less filtration that is the trade off every time.

Thanks for the info. Their marketing seems to be very aggressive nowadays.

I have this drop-in Hurricane filter on our 4M41 Strada. Runs better actually than the Mitsu filter installed.

Most vehicles will run better with more air flow but your introducing all kinds of added contaminates to your engine, not to mention increasing leading edge wear on your turbo's blades and increased particulates into your engines oil.

I just use a replacement filter and change more often. But that's just me. I'm too lazy to clean reusables and OEM prices are through the roof.
