    hello,

hirap ba mga ito sa highway? Maaksaya na ba sa gas pag binilisan / nag-cruise na? Hirap na ba sa 100-120 km/h ang 1.3L??

    TIA

Well, I've driven a Toyota Vios 1.3E on the SLEX going to Tagaytay via Sta. Rosa. As far as I can tell, it was ok. Ride quality was comfortable but you would still feel the uneven portions of the road --- but not in a way that is jarring or harsh. Speed on cruising and overtaking was more than adequate. If you need to overtake, just plunk it down to third, press the pedal and you can feel the VVTi engine come to life.

Although, as with most VVTi engines, it becomes a little boomy when you go beyond 3000 rpms. Going up to Tagaytay from Sta. Rosa, the engine had more than enough pulling power on the twisting roads.

    Hope this helps.

Our old AE101 Corolla XE can still hit 120 even with a full load of passengers and baggage. Medyo hirap sa overtaking compared to our AE111 Gli (manual) pero when the road's wide open no problems.

Driven: Ford Lynx Lsi M/T & Honda City 1.3L CVT

Unlike the 1.3L engines of 5 years ago, the newer 1.3L engines are a lot better and more refined. Cruising at 100 - 120 kph doesn't really tax the engine that much. Though overtaking can be a bit tricky as you really have to time it & use the upper rpms to reach the desired power output.

Going back to 100kph after braking can be a chore but once you are there, the engine will happily putter along.

the 1.3 is more than capable if you observe highway speed limits.

Drive a Honda City Type Z recently on South Super. It's ok, but once I'm at the Skyway, all these 1.6s and Pajeros left me like a lagging mule.

Top speed of 120. Beyond that, may road and wind noise na. Car vibrates also. RPM is around 3000.

The 1600s must be hitting 130-140 above.

Honda city gen 1/type z really has that aerodynamic flaw where it vibrates at abot 120kph to 140kph... Above 140kph, the vibration disappears... Some folks I know driving a Honda City gen1/type z SX8 1300cc (and actually tried it myself also) could also reach 180kph (no passengers)...

I drive a Vios 1.3 and top speed ko so far ay close to 150 sa NLEX.

Well the point still stands that you can't get a piece of road here where a 1.6L car will clearly outrun a 1.3L by a mile. Unless maybe if you often drive at 3AM.

And knowing when to shift gears adds thrill to it all ;)

displacement doesn't tell the whole story, if the tranny's gear ratio is suited for cruising, it'll do fine, if the car is light, it'll do fine.

heck, even 1.0 cars will do fine sa highway

mine is a vios 1.3e, no problem in reaching speeds of 150kph

when i'm very eager to overtake, i just do some pedal to metal stuff and there goes the vvti working very sweet

my gas consumption i think is also very decent, 14km/l on a mixed city and highway driving.

yes, it will reach 150kph but how long will it take to reach that speed?

I drove a city 1.3 cvt and its pretty good getting to 100kph but from 100 to 120kph, its taking forever.

my first brand new car was a lancer itlog 1.3 el, yung steel rims and pawis steering. i always took it to Batangas for scuba diving, 2 passengers and 2 sets of dive gear, and not once did i feel that i was lacking in power because i knew what king of car i was driving.

as long as you know what your vehicle is capable of and you adjust your driving attitude and style accordingly, it will be fine.
