I had the car checked yesterday.

Mechanic checked the alternator by removing the negative battery terminal while engine is running

Now I am paranoid that my ECU is damaged because I have read that removing the battery terminal will cause voltage spikes that can destroy the ECU. Although currently there are no signs of faulty ECU.

Has anyone done this with your ECU equipped car?
