Guys patulong naman po. My friend has a a/t gen1 CRV. When opening the oil cap, may bumubuga na hangin and konting oil na sprinkling. Is this normal? Ano kaya problema? Also may konting tagas ng oil from the overhead gasket ba yun... your inputs will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Pag naka on ang engine there would be some oil sprinkling about, tapos may hangin rin dahil nag build up usually ang pressure sa engine, thats why there are vacuum hoses going to and from the engine.

that's normal. rocker arms are moving kaya may lumalabas na air.

why would you open the oil cap when the engine is running anyway?

Thanks sir. WE opened the oil cap coz this moron neighbor told us that something is wrong with the engine if oil splashes out. (tsk tsk tsk... mga uzi talaga.. hehe) This was when we were checking for the oil leak sa may front and side ng engine (although sa front and side where the distributor is lang naman may leak). Hope this is just the gasket (what do you think? Is there any other things to be checked?) BTW, we checked the spark plugs and it haad no oil naman. Thanks

Problem could be with the distributor o-ring, palitan nyo na lang, mga 50 pesos yung part, 150 yung labor, I took the DIY route, mga 30 minutes to do.

kapag may tumatagas na langis galing sa oil cap, yun na ang masama.

a little smoke is allright but if it's billowing out then the combustion process is not sealed and you know you have a leak somewhere.

---this is what they do before the engines became OHC. camshafts in the old days are located somewhere under the cylinder head.

---as speedyfix said, engine seems fine. gaskets/oil seals/ or o-ring lang iyan...
