You can do a cheap head swap with a JDM D15B. That's a 130 hp 1.5... I don't know kung swak yun sa D16/PH16 block, but it should be... would give you 135 hp, then mods ka for a total of 140-145 hp... that's good enough.

Kung B16A swap... dami puwede... almost any performance shop can do it. Last I heard (over a year ago), cost would be about 100k... that's engine (EG B16A should be around 160hp) plus hubs/brakes and fuel tank (you need the fuel tank, for sure).

Yung limit lang talaga is yung budget mo. ;)

Don't know particulars... marami sa Evang at Banaue. In Q.C., only shops I really know that do that stuff are Fusion R, Speedlab and Autoplus, but a lot of minor garages can do it.

To mod the PH16 isn't difficult... minor intake and exhaust mods, plus an SAFC and some distributor timing advance should give you more than enough "kick". The D16 is very responsive to mods, and you have a lot of options in terms of original, surplus headers that will give you lots of power.

What is SAFC stands for?so, in other words mas maganda nalang kung PH16 muna gamitin ko habang wala pa budget pang change engine.may sinasabi sila na mag stage 1 daw ako?anu po yun ibig sabihin nun?actually ang nagawa ko palang sa car eh change na ako ng clutch at tension wire, anu pa kaya susunod ko para lumakas at puwede narin hatawin..psensiya na po kasi po wala po ako talaga alam sa mga ganyang bagay.

salamat pala sa mga reply mo..

Stage I, Stage II, Stage III... it all depends on who you ask.

Usually, people regard buying an air filter, putting on some headers and an exhaust as stage I. Others consider any "bolt-on" (meaning you can just attach it to the engine and use it as-is) as Stage I. This includes lighter flywheels, aggressive camshafts, etcetera. You can also do ignition advance (done by cranking the distributor and double-checking the timing with a light) and fuel control here... but some people rate fuel control as Stage II.

Stage II often includes port and polishing, higher compression (change of pistons and rods) and the like... while Stage III takes this a step further. Definitions may vary.

An SAFC - Air Fuel Controller... allows you to adjust your fueling. Most stock engines run slightly or moderately rich (in other words, they dump gasoline into the chamber) to run cooler. You can adjust your fuel mixture for a few horses.

    -----

But the thing is, after Stage I, it gets very expensive, and you may be better off just swapping in the B16A.

For a "cheap" but "good" build, Stage I modifications will include an air filter tube (a plastic Simota tube will do), a good air filter (K&N or Apexi) and a secondhand set of original headers (or a brand new custom set), a mandrel-bent midpipe, a good resonator and a muffler.

This will typically net you about 10-15 hp (or even as high as 20-25 if you've got a great header), and will cost you, with good budgetting, about 30,000 pesos... maybe more, maybe less, depending on how nice/cheap you want your set-up to be.
