need help..napansin ko na parang nagiging marumi yung engine ko.. nung tinignan kong maigi.. parang lumalabas yung langis sa part ng engine na may gaskets.. wala naman ito dati, ngayon lang.

i just had my oil changed, siguro two months ago.. shell helix dati ang ginagamit ko, pero i switched to havoline nitong huling oil change.. may kinalaman ba ito? nabasa ko kasi dati na parang semi synthetic ang havoline.. and if you switched from mineral to synthetic, may tendency nga na mag leak.. ano ba pde kong gawin?

plano ko kasi mag paengine wash para maalis yung dumi ng langis, tapos papachange oil ulit ako, balik na lang sa mineral based.. if i do this, mawawala na ba yung leak? kung di mawala, ano ba pde kong gawin?
97 mazda familia glx ang ride ko..

    thanks

cliff, you need to get the gasket changed. cheap lang naman the part and labor for that. been hearing a lot about leaks caused by moving from mineral to syntethic but as chieffy pointed out, it's not related to the gasket.

thanks sa replies chieffy and fundy.

im not sure kung valve cover gasket tawag dun.. pero yun yung cover na inalis nila nung nagpalit ako ng timing belt last year.. tinignan ko rin yung bandang ilalim, parang may leak din.. i just had it checked this afternoon.. papalitan na nga raw yung gasket, pati din daw yung gasket sa oil seal pan, paalitan din.. kasi may parang leak din dun..
2300 daw ang damage.. parang masyado yatang mahal.. mag cacanvass muna ako sa iba.. natural lang ba na magwear out yung gaskets after sometime regardless of what oil you use? nagtataka lang kasi ako ngayon lang lumabas when i switched to semi synthetic..

Based on the inputs i gathered from others, the following are usually what needs to be replaced when one is experiencing oil leaks:

    Crankshaft oil seal
    Camshaft oil seal
    Valve cover gasket
    Oil pan gasket
    Distributor o-ring

Yup, they're usually wear and tear items that get worn out over time resulting in the leaking of oil.

Did you replace the camshaft and crankshaft oil seals when you had your timing belt replaced? It is advisable that these be done at the same time since both oil seals can be accessed na rin when changing your timing belt --> tipid ka pa sa labor.

As what others have suggested, start with the gaskets and seals first beforing switching back to mineral oil para hindi doble gastos mo.

BTW, which gasket are they referring to when they said, "papalitan na raw ang gasket?" Valve cover?

Would suggest that you get your parts separately para makatipid ka kahit papano. Then just have it installed in a reputable shop that will not overprice you.

    HTH!

thanks gian. i think valve cover nga yung sinasabi nilang papalitan na raw yung gasket. atsaka hindi rin pinalitan yung crankshaft and camshaft seal when i replaced the timing belt.. mukang marami pala ako papalitan..

I'll try to have it fixed this weekend.. may problema ba kung ibabiyahe ko ng long trips yung kotse na hindi pa napapaayos ito?.. punta kasi kaming batangas this friday, siguro mga 4 hours drive din yun, one way.. baka saturday or sunday ko pa mapagawa.. except for the oil na masasayang dahil sa leak, ala bang problema yun? ill make sure naman na hindi bababa yung level ng oil sa low.

cliffjumper just make sure na di ka mauubusan ng langis. mahirap na, katok ang makina mo kung maubusan ka ng langis. kung malakas ang tagas, pagawa mo na. pero kung minimal, pwede pa basta top up ka na lng palagi ng engine oil kung bumababa sa level.
