engine longevity/compression test

sir, my car is a mazda 323lx (1.3) di ko sure kung 96/97 model ito. odo reading is 250k na! ayos pa rin performance. around 13 km/l sa gas. last na nag pa emmission test ako, comment nung nag test "halos bago pa daw makina" based sa usok. (ewan ko kung binobola ako). bago paayos at palit lahat sa ilalim courtesy of zee.

may P50k ako ngayon, dilemma ko kung i-spend ko to sa mazda para ma-enhance pa. (re-carpet, seats, paint job siguro, etc), or ibenta ko car para bili hatchback. porma din kse.

fear ko kse, baka lumabas na "sakit" nung kotse ko due to "old age". sayang nmn pagpa re-carpet, seats,etc.

para mapanatag loob ko, i think i-try ko magpa-compression test. limitted lang knowledge ko tungkol dito pero i think this has something to do dun sa cylinder-piston, tama b? ibig sabihin kung ayos pa result, matagal pa ako pa chances ng overhaul w/c is magastos.

tanong ko sir is ano pa iba test, aside from emmisssion and compression, para ma-convince ako na i-keep pa present car?

ah its present market value and depreciation...ako kasi if it ain't broke don't fix it. Well of course may periodic maintenance dapat din yan. Dapat alam mo yun specs ng engine mo, technical specs para alam mo kung with the factory specs pa yun compression mo. I've read somewhere dapat within +/-20 percent ang reading niya for each cylinder. Pero di rin assurance na magtatagal ang engine sa compression test. minsan your rings will just snap tapos blowby kana.

yun pa nga yung isang iniisip ko- depreciation and re-sale value nung mazda, and yun nga, 250thou od reading. siguro ngayon, mabenta ko pa sya ng mga P100k.

kung gastosan ko pa ng P50k ito sa simple improvements, sana with the thought na tatagal pa sya. eto yung reason kya gusto ko i-undergo sa iba pang tests.

otherwise, ibenta ko sya for P100k then idadag ko yung 50k plus shell-out pa konti amount para makabili hatch.
