September 15th, 2008 12:14 PM #1Hey guys,
do you have any idea why engine jerks while idle? napansin ko na nag je-jerk ung engine once every 2-3 mins pag naka idle or nakahinto sya. sabi ng kapatid ko baka sa high tension wire daw. ano pa kaya pede i-check?
thanks!

Timing, idle speed, high tension wires, lots of things electrical even the computer box. Fuel filter, fuel pump anything that may be clogged.

September 17th, 2008 11:14 AM #6agree ako sa iba. madaming reason yan. pero you can start with the items na pwedeng i-DIY at walang cost. like yung mga cleaning solutions lang. wala namang harm na magagawa e unless di ka talaga marunong.
by the way, what's your car or engine type? EFI or carb?
pero common fixes:
1. check high-tension wires for breaks/cracks or for loose connections (best to do it at night without lights. start the engine and observe the high-tension wires kung may tumatalsik na kuryente)
2. check/clean distributor cap and rotor
3. check/clean/re-gap/replace sparkplugs
4. replace/clean air filter
5. replace fuel filter
6. clean MAF sensor (for EFI)
7. clean carburetor
8. check/adjust timing
