We've been using our starex for almost 4 years now. We didn't have any problem so far, it is well-maintained especially with the change-oil (every 1,500km). But we wanted to have an engine check or an overall check up on our van.

From what Hyundai dealer can we go with complete machines and services that we need? We just bought a tucson from Hyundai Balintawak but they do not have complete facilities for it right now.

Please, I hope you could answer my querries...
    Many thanks!

Kasama dapat ang overall check up every PMS. May scheduled items siya sa manual.

Change oil every 1,500 kms? Hindi ka din galit sa langis ha. hehehe.

checking it should not be too hard. just check for leaks and premature wear on normal items.

Mine just had its 8th bday this month, no real problem still going strong. with oil changes every 1,500k you should have no problem. I initially did it every 3,000k on its 1st year, after that its every 5,000k. Mine has auto tranny (Jap built model 72LE if I'm not mistaken), fluid changes is same schedule as engine, you can only drain almost 3 liters of atf, using Petron ATF ever since. Tranny requires DII, Petron atf is DIII, so it's ok to use. Cleaned tranny filter screen at 109,000k mark, no need to replace, its stainless steel screen, just wash with water and detergent, dry then install. All DIY.

Sorry I don't go to dealers besides there was none when I bought in '98. I go to Pasay Taft for parts.

well, it pays off in doing the 1,500km change oil. We got our crdi from the gray market. I've called Hyundai greenhills & makati, I'd probably bring it in greenhills next week for the change oil and other check ups.

    Rain14,

When I bought my 2nd hand Starex, I had a complete & thorough checkup done at GR8 Cars, Makati. They really specialize on Starex, plus you can watch how they do it. It cost me P500 for the checkup, then just add for parts & labor on whatever findings. Their price is cheaper than casa, but more expensive than Banawe shops.
