January 27th, 2003 03:26 PM #21the emission test is only good for 30 days daw. just passed the test last saturday. our company scheduled for a 3rd party company accredited by LTO for all vehicles under car plan.
on some cars, like mine, they were rev'd hard but I just wonder that they do this selectively because they didn't do this on some cars.
also, keep in mind, that they hav different passing marks albeit for 97 and older cars, for 98-2000 model cars (just an example, though), etc. So, a new car is no guarantee pa pala. I saw year 2000 model cars flunking the test. I didn't even see a bit of smoke come out of their exhausts.
Better follow the advise of the peeps here. Schedule a tune-up and focus on your plugs and air filter. But I agree that a well-kept car is the best insurance. My last tune-up was done last October pa. It withstood two overheating incidents in November and December. I replaced my plugs last November pa. Btw, I have the conical K&N filter ( one year nang hindi nalilinis), equipped with headers and freeflow exhaust system. I only skipped last December's tuneup but I have my car tuned-up once in every three months - change oil & plugs plus a few more.
Accdg to the tester, I just barely passed the test.

January 27th, 2003 03:40 PM #22preng djerms, thanks very much for the offer. malayo para sa akin eh dahil dito ako sa cavite. sa July pa rehistro ng auto ko and its a 95 corolla gli. my current problem is "butas" sa may catalytic converter na nalaman ko lang lately. parang tusok ng dulo ng kutsilyo... really don't know how it happened dahil hindi naman ako sumayad. sana hindi makaapekto ito para pumasa auto ko.
hmmm... good idea yung nagpost na may arrangement company nila for a third party certified ng LTO tester.

Parang unfair yata!!!
