So mga sir : a fully synth oil with a lower API rating is still much better than a mineral oil with a higher API rating? API-CI4 na po daw kasi yun SeaOil Deo Turbo Max at yun Caltex delo Gold? Medyo nalilito nga din po ako.

I used Delvac MX 15w40 on my LC100 for the first 24k km then shifted to delvac 1 5w40 full synth. On delvac MX, use to replace every 5k km or 6 mons but on delvac 1, will do max 1yr or 5-7k km interval.

Since an oil change requires 11.5L in the LC100, there's a huge price diff between mineral and full synth. I think mineral is ok if you only do low speed driving but, if you travel a lot (high speed) then a full synth is better protection for the turbo.

The toyota oil filter for the 1HD-T engine is a twin element type, meaning it has a full flow and by-pass filter combined. This type can easily handle 10k km use but they recommend only 5k km under extreme use. The point is- a bypass filter can actually extend the life of an oil by removing finer impurities thus less wear on the engine's internals.

IMO, any of the oils mentioned would be OK, just stick to the proper service intervals and if your engine is turbo, dont forget to cool it down before shutting off. Use one with at least a CH-4 rating.

With synths, if you do extend the drain interval, you still have to change the oil filter at 5000km. Even if the oil keeps its viscousity and lubricating properties longer, the dirt from daily useage will still be there. I've tried extending my oil change in a gas sedan to 10,000km once with synth oil and NO oil filter change and what i got afterwards was basin full of muck.

Given the choice, i still prefer to use mineral then change every 5000km (i use Delvac MX in my pick-up BTW). You can also try semi-synths then change every 5000km as well. It'll give added protection but costs half the price of full synths.

it's the other way around, a mineral-based engine oil with higher API rating is better than a fully synthetic engine oil with lower API rating.

among the choices pipiliin ko yung sa Sea Oil...personally, i would stick to the engine oils of the big 3 at sa mobil...subok na eh...gives you peace of mind...

scanner, Delo Gold Multigrade is API-CH4, Delo 400 yung API-CI4(di pa available locally)

    Chieffy,

In the oil database forum you mentioned you have delo sports semi synthetic blend?

Do you have this is your Station?

    Roydok,

Di ba if you change filters every 5k, that means matatapon at least 1 liter of oil?

Definitely magdadagdag kayo ng oil pero depending on the side of the oil filter of your vehicle it may be equal to 1 liter or less.

115 pesos po as per price sa Sea Oil McArthur Highway, Potrero, Malabon and Sea Oil EDSA near Q.A. Pero syempre nagbabago price niyan depende sa location. I recall both service oil changes.

By the way, I am not promoting Sea Oil as a product. I'm just stating the facts on some new products in the market. Sana nga sumunod na din Big 3 at upgrade nila diesel oil products to the current highest API standard. It's healthy for all of us users.
