February 12th, 2008 05:40 PM #1I have a 94 lancer glxi (4g92a engine) na bigla na lang di na umistart , ok naman po yung starter dahil it cranks the engine normally para umistart kaya lang di tumutuloy. I have inspected kung merong spark sa high tension wires leading to the spark plug and there was none., so a mechanic tried to replace the ignition coil thinking na yun ang sira pero it still would not start, so ibinalik na lang uli yung luma.
Another mechanic told me na baka ecu ang defective but the check engine lights goes on after turning on the key and goes off after 5 seconds (which is an indicator na ok ang ecu, correct me po if I'm wrong) , so medyo hessitant ako na bumili agad ng ecu dahil medyo mahal din.
Ano pa ba ang pwedeng pagmulan ng sira nito aside from the ecu and ignition coil? TIA

my ignition coil yan? dba direct na nasa distributor yung coil nyan?
also try checking your existing power cable
ECU nyan 20-40K sa mitsubishi (brand new) di ko alam if magkano surplus

check mu yung socket sa ilalim ng distributor nagiinit ba un? baka grounded yan,,,
or loss connection lang yan?
tiga san ka ba? mas mabuti dalin mo yan sa mga auto center na jan specialization,, mahirap kasi itrace yan..
kaso baka tama ka nga na ECU prob nyan.. prepare ka ng budget

Start from the most basic bro, check mo muna ang battery, then battery terminals, then distributor cap, then hi-tension wires, then alternator, then ignition coil solenoids. Hindi yan sa ECU bro believe me, bopols yung mekaniko na nagsasabi sa iyo na ECU yan. Your problem has something to do with your electricals, charging system, and grounds. Hope my suggestion helps.

February 14th, 2008 02:43 PM #7Thank you very much mga Bros. for the replies
Things I have already checked/done on my engine
>Umaabot ang gas sa combustion chamber dahil amoy gas when I crank with the plugs disconnected
>battery charge and clamps are ok
>fuses are all ok
>CEL lights on for 5 secs after turning on the ignition and goes off after 5 seconds.
>no spark present in HT wires leading to the plugs, pinalitan na ang coil but di pa rin umistart kaya ibinalik na lang ang lumang coil.
Gusto ko sanang i-check ulit yung primary and secondary winding ng coil but I dont know how (internal kasi yung coil and hindi ako familiar sa terminals), can somebody tell me how to do it? TIA

Here are some suggestions din bro (taken from my Haynes Workshop Manual for my vehicle):
Engine rotates but will not start:
1. Fuel tank empty;
2. Battery discharged (engine rotates albeit slowly);
3. Battery terminals loose or corroded;
4. Fuel not reaching carburator or fule injectors; check for clogged filter or lines;
5. Choke not operating properly;
6. Faulty distributor cap and rotor;
7. Low cylinder compression;
8. Valve clearances not properly adjusted;
9. Water in fuel; drain tank and fill with new fuel;
10. Defective ignition coil;
11. Dirty/clogged carburator or injectors;
12. Wet or damaged ignition components;
13. Worn, faulty or incorrectly gapped spark plugs;
14. Broken, loose, or disconnected in the starting circuit;
15. loose distributor;
16. broken, loose or disconnected wires at the ignition coil;
17. Timing belt failure;
Subukan mo muna ang distributor cap bro. Tantya ko dyan ang problema. HTH.

February 14th, 2008 04:28 PM #10Today I tested the high tension wires that leads to the spark plugs and two of them registers high resistance while the other two registers low resistance, alin po sa kanila ang normal/faulty? Eto na po kaya ang dahilan ng hindi pagstart ng oto ko?
Maraming salamat po uli sa mga nagreply!
Choice I would have made as well.:nod:
