Coolant flush or refill?

Actually sir dinrain ko existing ko, pero sa radiator at coolant reservoir lang. Nagtataka lang ako nung binuhos ko orange coolant tapos distilled water, naging green siya sa ibabaw.
Anyone here experience the same?

The cooling systems includes passages inside the engine.

simply draining the radiator does not remove the coolant entirely. if you really want to remove the coolant there are ways to do so. you can remove the radiator hoses top and bottom and you can also remove the thermostat as that is "closed" on a cold engine. by doing these all that coolant should go down the drain. you can do this twice to complete change to a different coolant.

Kaya nga sir. I missed removing the radiator inlet and outlet hose. Should I be worried now? 4 days ko ng gamit after changing coolant which is supposed to be orange but turned green on top but so far okay naman takbo niya.

Anong kotse? Toyota ba? Baka naman nahaluan na dati ng ibang coolant?

Supposedly dapat drain and fill is ok na kung same coolant ipalit.

ah yes.
red si toyota, green si sentra...

red + green = brown, which might be interpreted by some as orange, if it is not too concentrated.

Honda-blue. Kaya baka nahaluan na before.

To Thread starter, mag drain and fill ka na lang ulit ng isang beses and pre-mixed na ilagay mo.

Ako usually drain lang from radiator plug then flush with water. Pag clear na, refill it with ready to use prestone coolant.

dad used to place a garden hose into the radiator's filler neck, back when radiators had open-able filler necks, open the radiator drain, and run the engine at idle until the draining water is clean and clear. it took only a few minutes.

AFAIK the reason behind doing coolant flushes is it gradually becomes electrolytic over time. After a few years kahit visually malinis pa yung coolant it eventually becomes an electrolyte like plain water, which can cause galvanic corrosion especially if the engine and radiator use different metals (usually iron in the engine block and brass/copper in the radiator). Recommendation from Toyota in Vacaville CA is to flush coolant every three to five years or 30k miles.¹
